"Hey, are you really into me?" Becky's question came as I juggled between chopping onions and cooking our dinner. I had taken it upon myself to cook, giving the maid a well-deserved break, but Becky, with her persistent curiosity, had decided to keep me company.

"Becky, I need to focus on cooking. Can you give me a moment?" I scolded gently, but she remained undeterred.

"Just once more, please?" she pleaded with a pout. "You do like me now, right? It's finally happening?" Her giggles filled the kitchen.

Oh, her relentless nature was precisely why I hesitated to admit my feelings. She'd tease and pester me endlessly.

"Okay, fine. Yes, I like you. A lot. But you gotta let me work my magic in the kitchen, alright?" I gave in, rolling my eyes playfully.

Becky beamed and settled onto a stool, her gaze fixed on me as I continued cooking. It was evident that my admission had shifted something in her demeanor. She looked at me like I was the most precious thing in the world, and I couldn't help but smile back.

"But remember, us liking each other doesn't mean we're a couple, okay?" I reminded her, earning another pout.

"Aw, why not?" she protested. "I'll just be jealous of everyone else since you won't be completely mine!"

"What's that supposed to mean?" I chuckled. "When I say I like you, it means I like only you. No one else. So, there's no need for jealousy. At the end of the day, you're the one I'll come back to, alright?"

"But why don't you want us to be official?" she pressed.

"You're still young, Becky. And I'm not ready. Plus, I don't have much to offer. I just enjoy singing and writing. Unlike you, you're a prodigy. Good at sports, academics, beautiful, and wealthy. You're nearly perfect, Becky. Just give me time until I can give you everything you deserve, okay?" I explained, placing the finished dish on the counter. "Now, let's eat. I need to do something."

Leaving Becky to enjoy her meal, I stepped outside to call Faye and update her on the situation. However, the noise in the background made it hard to hear her.

"Where are you?" I asked, trying to make out her voice.

"Just out with friends at a nearby bar. Why?" Faye replied. "Are things alright between you and Becky now?"

"Why are you at a bar? I didn't know you were into that scene," I remarked. "Anyway, things are fine with Becky now. I'll introduce you once she's settled. Sound good?"

"Sure thing," she agreed before being interrupted by someone in the background. "I gotta go. Happy for you, Freen." Her tone seemed off, but I didn't dwell on it.

Returning to the kitchen, I found Becky happily finishing her meal. She looked so content, like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. I couldn't help but smile as I approached her.

"Hey there," she greeted me, offering a bite of her food. "Want me to whip something up for you?"

"Nah, I'm good," I replied, leaning against the counter to watch her. She furrowed her brow at me, but I ignored it.

"I've got a question for you, and I want an honest answer," Becky said, locking eyes with me. "When did you realize you liked me?"

"Why? Planning to brag?" I teased, flicking her forehead lightly. "Are you done eating? Let's clean up and get ready for bed."

"Will you help me?" she asked, blinking innocently.

"Sure thing. You go upstairs and sort out your clothes. I'll be there soon after washing up," I said, gathering the dishes.

As Becky headed upstairs, I lingered in the kitchen, pondering why Faye had chosen to go to a bar when it wasn't her usual scene. Was something bothering her? Perhaps it was an adult issue she didn't feel comfortable sharing with me.

Eventually, I joined Becky in the bathroom, where she was enjoying a soak in the tub.

"Need help with your back?" I offered.

Becky hesitated for a moment before nodding, allowing me to scrub her back.

"So, when did you actually start liking me?" she inquired.

"I liked you from the beginning. I just didn't want to admit it, fearing you'd take what you wanted and leave," I confessed, scrubbing roughly.

"Ouch, why so rough?" Becky winced. "It's okay. Your prejudices don't bother me, especially when it comes from you." She grinned, and I couldn't help but shake my head, continuing to scrub.

Afterward, as she got out of the tub, I averted my gaze to give her privacy.

"Seriously, overreacting," she chuckled, wrapping herself in a robe. "You can turn around now. I'm decent."

I shot her a glare. "You should still be cautious. What if I were a stranger?"

"You think I'm that naive?" she laughed. "I won't let anyone catch me off guard, Freen." With that, she kissed me lightly on the side of my lips and left the room.

How dare she?!
