When Bright and I returned home, he remained silent, not because he lost the game, but because I had left in the middle of it. He wanted me to see how skilled he was at football. While I knew he was talented, I couldn't bear to watch Becky. Just the sight of her infuriated me. Suddenly, Mew glanced at us with a furrowed brow. He was accustomed to us returning home, with Bright teasing me or us teasing each other. Tonight was different.

"What happened?" Mew inquired, setting aside the newspaper he was reading as he approached me by the door. "Did you two have a fight?"

"He's upset because I didn't watch his game," I explained with a sigh.

Mew took my bag and indicated for me to remove my vest so he could wash it. He was acting like a father again, but I felt I was old enough to handle things on my own.

"You should talk to him, Freen," Mew urged, sighing as he placed my bag on the couch. "You know how much he wants you to be there during his matches. He wants to make you proud."

"I'm always proud of him, brother. I just can't stand seeing his opponent," I sighed, sinking onto the couch. "That girl just ruins everything."

"Girl? His opponent is a girl?" Mew chuckled, joining me on the couch. "Who is she then? Is she cute?"

I shot him a glare, which only made him laugh. Mew had been a womanizer before he met his current girlfriend. I didn't know what had changed, but he suddenly started taking his relationship seriously. Mile, reminded him not to rush into marriage since Bright and I were still studying. I didn't mind, but I think they had made a promise to my dad.

"She's stunning. Her beauty is captivating. There's something about her eyes that I can't resist. Her smile, her presence," I murmured, gazing up at the ceiling.

"So, you hate her because you're falling for her?" Mew teased, earning another glare from me. "Why do you sound so lovesick? The way you describe her doesn't sound like hate." He shook his head, laughing.

"I am not! I'm straight. Why would I fall for another girl?" I rolled my eyes, leaning back against the couch. "I just can't stand her."

"There's nothing wrong with falling for a girl, Freen. Even if you're straight, if your heart feels something, you can't control it," Mew explained, looking at me. "So, what's the real reason behind your hatred for her?"

I sighed and closed my eyes. "She did something that led to the President asking me to step down from my position. I'm no longer the university council president."

"Is there no other way for you to regain that position?" Mew asked.

"If I tutor her and she starts improving academically, I'll regain my position. But what if she doesn't? I'll lose my scholarship too," I vented, kicking the air in frustration while Mew chuckled at my antics.

"Stop that. I'll cook dinner. What do you want?" Mew offered, getting up.

Before I could answer, there was a knock on the door. It was probably Mile. But why was he back so soon? I signaled to Mew that I would answer it, expecting to see Mile, but to my surprise, it was Billy. How did he know where I lived? I glanced outside and saw Mile parking his motorcycle.

"You told him I was working nearby, so he came to find me and ask if he could see you," Mile explained as he entered the house. "Your boyfriend's here." He winked at me, earning a puzzled look.

Billy chuckled as I opened the door wider for him to enter.

"Don't bother cooking, Mew. I picked something up on the way," Mile called to Mew in the kitchen as he took off his helmet and motioned for us to follow him.

"Bright's upstairs. He's got a period," Mew added with a wink, joining in on the playful banter.

"Why?" Billy inquired as he followed me into the kitchen.

"He's upset with me," I answered, pulling him into the kitchen so we could eat together. I wasn't sure why he was here, but I would ask him later after dinner.

"Look, Mew, Freen's boyfriend's here. Are you going to ask for our princess's hand?" Mile teased, setting plates on the table.

"Stop it. He's not my boyfriend, Mile," I retorted.

"I'm gay," Billy announced suddenly, catching me off guard. I hadn't known that about him. "Why?" he asked, chuckling at my surprised expression.

"You don't look it," I blurted out.

Mew came over and flicked my forehead, making me scowl. "Would you like your friend to wear a sign saying 'gay' so everyone knows?" Mew joked, while Mile laughed at my expense. "So, you're into guys?" he asked Billy.

"Yes, sir," Billy confirmed with a smile, and Mew nodded approvingly. "That's good to know. At least Freen is safe having a friend like you. I can't trust just anyone right now, especially with that girl turning into a woman."

"Don't worry, sir. I'll look out for her while we're at school," Billy assured them.

We chatted about various topics, but Bright didn't join us for dinner, despite our calls for him to come down. After we finished eating, Billy and I stepped outside to discuss why he had come over. It seemed there was something important he wanted to discuss beyond just his revelation about his sexuality.

"I'm sorry about what happened," Billy began, his hands in his pockets as he sighed deeply. "I heard about what my father did."

"It's okay. You warned me. I should've listened to you earlier," I replied with a bitter smile, though deep down, I couldn't fully accept the situation, no matter how hard I tried to convince myself it was okay.

"It's not," Billy insisted. "It's okay not to be okay sometimes, Freen. I'll talk to my father about this. I'll try to persuade—" I interrupted him.

"You don't have to. We had an agreement. I signed the documents. And I didn't want you to disappoint your father again," I said, looking him in the eyes. "You admitted you're gay, right? Is that why he's upset with you?"

Billy chuckled softly, nodding slowly. "He wants me to date you. He said you're a good match. A good student and a good person to be associated with," he shrugged. "But I can't date a woman, Freen. I can't see myself with a woman."

"I'm sorry," I murmured.

"It's okay. I wouldn't date you even if I were straight," he teased with a grin.

"Damn you," I laughed, playfully punching his shoulder, and we shared a moment of laughter together.

"But seriously, Freen. Becky is a good person. She just needs attention. Her family didn't give her that, which is why she seeks it elsewhere. Please, don't be too hard on her," Billy urged, reaching out to squeeze my hand. "Promise me. I won't ask you to befriend her or anything like that. Just give her a little attention. It would mean a lot to her."

"I'll try, Billy," I promised, offering him a small smile. "I'll try."
