As we stepped into my room, I noticed Vox glancing around, taking in the surroundings. When I turned back to face him, his gaze was fixed on me, his expression unreadable. Ignoring the intensity of his stare, I breezed over to my wardrobe, rummaging through the clothes. Grabbing one of his T-shirts, I turned and tossed it in his direction. "Here, you can wear this" I said casually, trying to diffuse the tension. He caught the shirt with a bemused expression. "Seems like you're getting quite comfortable in raiding my wardrobe" he remarked with a playful smirk. I shrugged, grinning back at him. "Hey, be grateful. Your clothes are comfy, and me having them is clearly coming in handy" I replied, trying to keep the atmosphere light despite the flutter of nerves in my stomach.
As Vox sat on the bed, his hiccups start punctuating the air, I couldn't help but giggle at the glitch that accompanied each one. His screen flickered with each hiccup, adding a humorous twist to the situation. Turning away from him, I began to change, slipping out of my top and reaching for a baggy T-shirt. As I pulled it over my head, I felt his gaze on me, a warmth spreading through me despite the nervous flutter in my chest. "Enjoying the show?" I teased, glancing back at him over my shoulder as I discarded my jeans, leaving me clad only in the oversized T-shirt and my thong. "Uh, yeah, of course" Vox replied, his voice slightly hoarse with a playful glint in his eyes.
"Hey, how was work today?, I didn't get the chance to ask earlier" Vox asked, his voice warm with genuine interest. I smiled at his attentiveness, appreciating his concern despite the late hour. "It was good actually" I replied, feeling a rush of warmth at our conversation. "I had this shoot with Angel for Val's studio." Vox's expression was unreadable, and I chuckled nervously, feeling a flush creeping up my cheeks. "Yeah, it was... interesting, to say the least. Val had us posing for these promotional posters, and let's just say, it was a bit outside my comfort zone". Vox's words caught me off guard. "I already know about the shoot," he said calmly, pulling out his phone. My confusion must have been evident as he showed me a text from Val. The picture of me and Angel together, posing for the posters, felt like a violation of my privacy. The caption, 'look at what I got your bitch to do' sent a shiver down my spine. My heart sank as I realized Val had shared this with Vox. Despite my discomfort, Vox remained composed.
"I hate to admit Val was right... you and Angel actually look good together," he remarked casually, his tone devoid of any judgment or jealousy. His unexpected response caught me off guard. His comment prompted a surprised smile to flicker across my face. "You think so?" I asked, seeking confirmation, still slightly taken aback by his unexpected approval. It wasn't the reaction I had anticipated, and I found myself feeling relieved yet curious about his perspective. "Absolutely" Vox replied with a grin, his gaze lingering on me. "You two have that... dynamic duo vibe going on. Like a crime-fighting team, but with more sex appeal and less justice" His playful tone eased the tension, and I chuckled, feeling a sense of camaraderie in his lighthearted jest. "Well, if I ever decide to switch careers, we know who will be my number one fan", I quipped back, enjoying the banter.
"I'm still shocked I did it really, but it was fun, when I got into it. I also had to turn down Val's offer to be a porn star again, for the hundredth time" I say, smiling at him, gently rolling my eyes. "Yeah, I can imagine it wasn't your first choice" Vox acknowledged, his expression sympathetic. "But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, right? And turning down Val's offer again? That's gutsy". I chuckled nervously, running a hand through my hair. "Yeah, well, you know me, always trying to stick to my principles" I replied, feeling a mix of pride and anxiety. "Besides, I don't want to get too entangled in that world. It's just not my scene". He nodded thoughtfully, his gaze lingering on me. "I get it" he said, his tone softening. "And you made the right call, Your integrity is one of the things I admire about you". His words warmed me, and I couldn't help but smile. "Thanks, Vox" I said, feeling a rush of gratitude. "It means a lot to hear you say that". He smiled back, his eyes meeting mine. "Anytime" he replied, his voice sincere. "I've got your back, you know that".
