As I return from my morning walk, the sight of a luxurious limousine parked outside the hotel catches my attention. Cautiously I start to walk past the vehicle, my steps slowing as the door to the limo swings open to reveal a tall pink and white demon emerging from within. I take in the demons imposing figure, I turn to continue walking to the hotel, only to freeze in my tracks as I catch sight of Valentino's sinister smile lurking in the limo's shadows. Panic surges through me, Fuck, he knows where I'm staying now, I ignore the loud pounding in my heart and dart through the door of the hotel, slamming the door shut behind me. as I catch my breath, my heart beat still racing the door to the hotel creaks open, the pink and white demon walks in with a mischievous grin.
Catching sight of me leaning against the door, breathless and trembling, he flashes me a warm smile. "Someone got a bit of a heavy hand, huh? Slamming doors in people's faces, are we?" he quips, his voice laced with playful sarcasm. I can't help but let out a nervous chuckle at the remark, "Sorry about that" I sheepishly reply, "Just a reflex, you know?". His grin widens as he shakes his head in amusement. "No worries, toots" he replies, "I've had worse. Name's Angel Dust, by the way. Pleasure to make your acquaintance". Despite the unease that seeing Valentino had left me with, I can't help but be drawn in by Angle Dust's infectious energy. As we exchange introductions and share a few laughs, I feel a sense of relief wash over me.
As Angel struts off towards the bar, leaving a trail of playful banter behind him, I make my way upstairs to my room. Eager to retreat from the lobby and gather my thoughts. However, as I turn the corner, I'm startled by Alastor, finding myself face to face with the ominous demon again. "Fucking hell, Alastor, do you ever walk around like a normal person!" I shout, clearly irritated. His grin is unsettling as ever, looking at me intensely with his demon red eyes, "Ah, sorry my dear, didn't mean to give you a fright". His grin widens, his gaze lingering, in turn making my skin crawl. "Tell me, my dear" he says, his tone casual yet filled with curiosity, "Who was it who dropped you off at the Hotel yesterday evening?". The question catches me off guard, "Oh, just a friend" I reply, trying to sound nonchalant.
"A friend you say?" he muses, his voice taking on a playful tempo. I swallow hard, I try to maintain my composure as I offer a vague reply. "Yes, just a friend" I repeat, his eyes twinkle with amusement, "Oh, come now, surely you remember their name, if they are a friend like you say". I shift uncomfortably under his gaze, "Well, I..." I begin, struggling to come up with a convincing response. Before I can open my mouth to say another word, he leans in closer, his smile taking a sinister edge. "Let me guess" he says, his voice low and static filled, "Was its Vox?". My heart skips a beat at the mention of his name and I feel a small surge of panic coursing through me. How could Alastor possibly have known it was Vox? And why is he so interested. Summoning every ounce of courage I can muster, I meet his gaze had on, my voice steady "I'm sorry Alastor". I reply, my tone firm yet polite, "I'm afraid you're mistaken. I don't know anyone by that name". His red eyes narrow as he studies me intently, a slight sceptical look upon his face. "My mistake dear, until next time", he straightens up, takes a step back and sinks into the shadows. Man, that guy is so fucking creepy and something tells me he didn't believe me.
I retreat to the safety of my room, collapsing onto the bed and let out a long sigh, the exhaustion of this morning catching up with me. As I drift into a light sleep, my mind swims through my exchange with Alastor and the sighting of Valentino earlier. With a start, I jolt awake from my restless slumber. Sitting up, I run a clawed hand through my hair and take a deep breath. Today, I need to find a job! I need a phone and some clothes. I mean how hard could it be to find one. With a renewed determination, I rise from the bed and set out into the bustling streets of Hell, I can't help but fill a flicker of optimism stirring within me, everything will be okay in the end. It has to be.
