With tender care, Vox scoops me up into his arms, cradling me against his chest as he prepares to carry me out of Val's office and back to the safety of the hotel. As he rises to his feet, I lean into his embrace, grateful for his strength and support in this moment of vulnerability. As we make our way towards the door, Val's voice cuts through the air, sharp and demanding. "Where do you think you're going with her?" he demands, his tone laced with thinly veiled hostility. He pauses, turning to face Val with a steely gaze, his jaw set in determination. "She needs rest" he replies firmly, his voice unwavering. "And she'll be getting it somewhere far away from here".

Val bristles at Vox's defiance, his expression darkening with anger. "She's my employee" he retorts, his voice rising in indignation. "I'll decide what's best for her". As Vox and I make our way out of Val's office, his voice rings out in response to Val's assertion. "She's not just your employee" he retorts firmly. "She's my girlfriend. So I trump you". With that declaration hanging in the air, Vox carries me out of the office and towards his car, determination evident in every step. As we settle into the vehicle, I sit silently in the passenger seat, my gaze fixed on Vox as he maneuvers through the streets. The weight of the recent events hangs heavy between us, the tension palpable in the air as we navigate the city streets in silence. Despite the turmoil swirling within me, I find solace in Vox's presence beside me, a silent reassurance that I am not alone in this tumultuous journey.

As we pull up to the hotel, Vox swiftly exits the car and strides purposefully into the lobby, carrying me gently in his arms. Charlie, the ever-watchful receptionist, spots us immediately and rushes over, her expression a mix of concern and confusion. "What happened?" Charlie's voice is filled with worry as she approaches us, her eyes flitting between Vox and me, searching for answers.
He meets her gaze with a solemn expression, his demeanor calm yet resolute. "She's had an incident" he explains, his voice steady and reassuring. "I'm just taking her upstairs to rest". Charlie nods understandingly, though her concern lingers. "Let me know if you need anything" she offers, casting a final worried glance in my direction before returning to her post at the reception desk.

With Charlie's assurance echoing in the air, he carries me up to my room, his steps sure and steady as he guides us towards the sanctuary of rest and solitude. Vox gently sets me down on the bed and assures me he'll return shortly. "I'll be back in no time" he says softly, his eyes conveying a mix of concern and determination. "Just need to grab a few things from home". I nod silently, my mind still reeling from the events of the day, my thoughts a tangled mess of confusion and exhaustion. As he turns to leave, I reach out and grab his hand, holding on tightly for a moment before releasing it, silently thanking him.  He offers me a reassuring smile before heading out the door, leaving me alone with my thoughts as I wait for his return.

As I lay in bed, I hear hurried footsteps approaching my room. As Angel bursts into the room and his eyes fall upon my battered form, his expression morphs from surprise to horror. "Oh my god, what happened to you?" he gasps, rushing over to my side. I don't have the energy to speak, feeling utterly overwhelmed by everything that transpired today. Instead, I offer him a weak nod, indicating that I'm okay enough to communicate nonverbally. His eyes brim with concern as he reaches out to touch my arm gently. "I'm so sorry" he murmurs, his voice laced with genuine regret. "This happened because you were protecting me from Val, wasn't it?". I nod slowly, confirming his suspicion. Anguish flashes across his features, his fists clenching at his sides. "Damn it" he mutters, his voice thick with emotion. "You got hurt because of me, badly. I shouldn't have let you protect me".  I shake my head slightly, trying to reassure him that it wasn't his fault. But his distress only deepens. "I can't stand seeing you like this" he confesses, his voice choked with emotion. "You're always the one looking out for me, and now.... Look at you". Tears well up in his eyes as he gazes at me, his heart heavy with guilt and remorse. Despite my own pain, I reach out to him, offering whatever comfort I can in this moment of shared anguish.

As Angel sits beside me, offering his silent support, I feel a sense of comfort wash over me. His presence alone is a balm to my wounded spirit, and I'm grateful for his unwavering companionship in this difficult time. Before long, Vox returns, entering the room with a mix of concern and relief etched upon his features. He immediately directs his attention to Angel, asking about my condition with genuine concern. "Is she okay?" he inquires, his voice tinged with worry. He nods solemnly, his expression reflecting the gravity of the situation. "She's holding up" he replies, his voice steady despite the underlying concern. "I've been keeping her company". Vox offers a grateful nod in response, his eyes softening with appreciation. "Thank you" he murmurs, his tone sincere. "I'm glad she wasn't alone". As Vox's gaze shifts to me, I muster a faint smile, silently conveying my gratitude for his return and the reassurance of his presence. Despite the tumultuous events that have unfolded, I find solace in the support of these two individuals who have stood by me in my hour of need.

Vox approaches me, his concern palpable as he takes in my battered state. Gently, he reaches out, his touch light yet comforting as he brushes a strand of hair from my face. "Hey there" he says softly, his voice a soothing presence amidst the chaos. "How are you holding up?". I manage a weak smile, grateful for his presence but still overwhelmed by everything that has transpired. "I've been better" I admit, my voice barely above a whisper.  His expression softens further, his eyes reflecting empathy. "You don't have to be strong all the time" he reassures me, his voice gentle yet firm. "Just know that I'm here for you, no matter what". His words offer a glimmer of comfort, and I find myself leaning into his touch, drawing strength from his unwavering support.

Angel leaves the room, bidding us both a farewell. Vox wraps his arms around me, holding me close as I start to cry. His comforting words wash over me like a soothing balm, and I find solace in his presence. "It's okay to let it out" he murmurs softly, his voice a gentle reassurance. "I'm here for you, always". I bury my face against his chest, seeking refuge in his warmth. The weight of the day's events feels overwhelming, but with Vox's comforting embrace, I begin to feel a sense of peace wash over me. His steady heartbeat beneath my ear serves as a reminder that I am not alone, that together, we can weather any storm. As I cling to him, the tears gradually subside, replaced by a sense of calm. With Vox by my side, I know that no matter what challenges may lie ahead, I have someone who will stand beside me, offering unwavering support and love.
