Chapter 24

(Kalia's Pov)

Walking into the fighting arena from last nights events I see Cody and walk up to him.

"Morning." I say looking over at the piles of dead Knights.

"Did you sleep well?" He asked

"Shorta, I mean I was worried about your father..." He nods.

"He doesn't suspect anything. He's off to Canada with my mom having meeting with the Watchers, they took Tom with them."

"So it's just you, me, Alli, and Jake."

"And buddy." I let out a small laughing looking up to see him smile.

"How many?"

"200 dead. Two hundred gone." He says I gave a sympathetic smile and placed my hand on his shoulder. As he threw a lighter onto the pile. Flames flew up and the fire spread quickly to the whole pile. Cody backs up and I remove my hand.

"Come on Kalia." He said softly I realize he wasn't behind me anymore I look around at found him over by the door. I ran to catch up with him as he opened the door for me.

"So what are you going to do now?"

"What do you mean?"

"The wolves attacked. You aren't just going to sit here and be a sitting duck right?"

"It's confidential." He said opening the exit door. I stopped and looked at him but he motioned me to go.

"So you aren't telling me?"

"Nope." He said shoving his hands into his pockets.

"Why not?" I ask "Is it because you don't trust me?" I continue "Is it because I'm a-"

"No Kalia it's none of those things I promise. My dad doesn't even know the plan, no one does I have to finalize it." I open my mouth to speak but leave it at that. I let a yawn, as the guards opened the gate.

"You should get some sleep knowing my dads not here." She says motioning for the guard to lock the gate up.

"Do you think he knows? Like maybe he saw but he's keeping it a secret, just long enough to get facts to make sure?" Cody stopped me and placed his hands on my shoulders.

"I promise I won't let him hurt you."
"What if he has you taken out just to take me down?"

"He won't touch you." He assured.

"What if-" Cody stopes my by pressing his lips against mine. I kiss him back after a couple seconds and one of his hand caressed my cheek while the other ran down my back. I reached up on my tip toes as I wrapped my arms around his neck. His am hand left my face and moved to my hip keeping me close to him.

He pulled away from the kiss, my hands fell onto his chest, and I rested into my heels.

"He won't hurt you, Kalia." I looked up at him "I promise."

"Okay." I say. Honestly, I hated when Cody made promises, in the end they were either forgotten or he would make another promise to forget the others..

I walk into the living room to be greeted by Cody.
"Do you know this man?" He asks pointing to a tanned guy with brown hair, and brown eyes.

"No. Should I?" I ask as the guy stands.

"I'm Scott Henderson, I work with your brother, Jaden. It would of be best if we speak privately." I look over at Cody and he shakes his head.

"Umm we can sit in the library." I say motioning Cody to leave, he rolls his eyes I give him a glare as Scott enters the library. I shut the door and turn to him.
