"Alright, New Directions." Mr. Schue clapped, grabbing their attention. "Big news. As you all know, Vocal Adrenaline came in second last year at Nationals."

"The only good thing to come out of that lost weekend," Finn quipped, earning a light shoulder tap from Rachel. "Besides us getting back together," he added quickly.

Melanie rolled her eyes, still irritated with the pair.

"Well, the boosters at Carmel don't donate tens of thousands of dollars every year to come in second, so they fired Dustin Goolsby," Mr. Schue informed.

"So handsome," Artie mumbled under his breath.

"And they're having trouble finding a new coach. It seems no one wants to take on that pressure cooker," Mr. Schue added.

"That means they're vulnerable," Tina chimed in, her tone hopeful.

"Exactly. If we work hard enough, we can beat them. Which is why I've decided I can't direct the musical this year."

"No, Mr. Schue! You can't cancel the musical. My New York dreams depend on it," Rachel stressed, her voice rising with urgency.

Melanie leaning back in her chair, gave Rachel a bored look. "I know this may come as a shock, Rachel, but not everything is about you," Melanie deadpanned, earning a chuckle from Mercedes and a glare from Rachel.

"I'm not canceling it. I'm just not directing it. My sole focus has to be in here: Nationals, Nationals, Nationals! And it's not just me who needs to step it up this year. I've been too easy on you all, so starting tomorrow, I'm instituting a mandatory 'Booty Camp.'" Mr. Schue announced, writing the words on the whiteboard. "This will help us improve our dancing. Now, it's not for everyone—just those who need it. Like..."

"Finn," Finn said, nodding before Mr. Schue could say his name.

"How did you know?" Mr. Schue chuckled. "And Puckerman. Hummel."

"I must protest!" Kurt exclaimed, holding up a finger in surprise.

"You kinda have one move, Kurt. It's this... sashay," Mike said, shaking his shoulders in demonstration. "And it's super distracting."

"That's true," Melanie giggled, halting when Kurt shot her an unamused look. "They're very good sashays," she added quickly, earning an eye roll and a small smile from Kurt.

"Jones," Mr. Schue continued.

"What? Hell to the nizzy-no," Mercedes objected.

"You told me once you were Beyoncé. You don't think she spends extra time in the dance studio?" Mr. Schue countered. Mercedes rolled her eyes but didn't argue further.

"Mike Chang has offered to be my assistant, and we start tomorrow. And yes, Puckerman, it is mandatory," Mr. Schue added, noticing Puck's raised hand.

"Mr. Schue, would you mind if I dropped by for a little bit? I really need to catch up with you guys," Blaine asked.

Mr. Schue nodded warmly.

"Okay, Mr. Schue, I'm glad you're so concerned with our special-needs members, but what about me? Who's going to direct the musical?" Rachel demanded.

Melanie and Mercedes exchanged irritated looks, shaking their heads at Rachel's antics.

"Ladies and gentlemen, your co-musical directors: Ms. Pillsbury and Coach Beiste," Mr. Schue announced as the two entered the choir room. Rachel bit her lip, clearly holding back an outburst.

"Now, Ms. Pillsbury did such a great job helping me out with Rocky Horror last year that I knew she could handle this," Mr. Schue explained.

"And I'm here to keep the football guys in line. Plus, I've already talked them into playing the Jets," Coach Beiste added.
