Melanie spotted Sam at his locker, sliding a book into his backpack. She approached quietly, her heart giving a little flutter as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Hey," she greeted him with a soft smile.
Sam turned toward her, his face lighting up instantly. "Hey," he murmured, leaning in to give her a quick peck on the lips.
"While you're here," he said, turning back to his locker with a playful grin. "I have something for you."
She watched him pull out a small box of chocolates and a card, handing them to her with a soft smile. Their fingers brushed as she took the gifts, sending a pleasant shiver through her. Melanie opened the card, reading it aloud with a small laugh.
"I'd be Schueper happy if you'd be my date to Mr. Schue's wedding."
A grin broke across her face, and she looked up at him.
"I'd love to go with you," she whispered, wrapping her arms around his waist in a warm hug. When she pulled away, a playful glint danced in her eyes.
"I have a surprise for you too," she said, taking his hand and gently pulling him down the hallway.
"Oh yeah?" he asked, curious, as she led him into an empty choir room.
"Yep." She shot him a teasing smile, letting go of his hand to grab a guitar from the corner. Sam sat down, watching her with a mix of curiosity and amusement, his gaze flicking between her and the instrument.
"So... I've been taking some guitar lessons," she admitted, settling onto a stool in front of him, the guitar resting comfortably in her lap. She glanced up, meeting his gaze with a shy but proud smile.
"I wanted to surprise you with it," she continued, adjusting her fingers on the frets. "Plus... it's really hard for me to focus when you try to show me," she added, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Sam chuckled, that easy, heart-melting smile making her stomach flip. Taking a steadying breath, Melanie began to strum, the soft melody filling the room.
"When I first saw you, I already knew there was something inside of you. Something I thought that I would never find Angel of mine," she sang softly, as she strummed.
Sam's green eyes followed her every movement, from the way her fingers danced on the strings to the soft curve of her lips as she sang.
"I look at you looking at me, now I know why they say the best things are free I'm gonna love you, boy, you are so fine Angel of mine," she continued, her gaze lifting to meet his.
"How you changed my world You'll never know I'm different now you helped me grow," she sang, her voice gaining strength, though her expression remained soft.
Sam didn't take his eyes off her. He listened intently, as if trying to memorize every note, the gentle sway of her body, the emotion in her voice.
"You came into my life Sent from above when I lost all hope you showed me love I'm checking for you, boy You're right on time, angel of mine," she sang, her eyes locked on his, and the way he looked at her made her heart flutter.
"Nothing means more to me than what we share No one in this whole world can ever compare Last night, the way you moved is still on my mind Angel of mine," her voice softened, tender and sincere, as though every word was meant for him alone.
"What you mean to me You'll never know Deep inside, I need to show," she whispered the line, the vulnerability of it making Sam's chest ache in the sweetest way.
