The Cheerios stood poised on the field, their sharp, synchronized movements slicing through the air as the music blared. They held a tight formation, each step precise and deliberate.
"Hey, over there, please forgive me If I'm coming on too strong," Brittany sang, her voice clear and commanding as she danced in perfect sync with her squad. She slid gracefully to the ground, her movements fluid and confident.
"Hate to stare, but you're winning And they're playing my favorite song," Brittany continued, her energy infectious. The Cheerios mirrored her effortlessly, spinning on the ground before kicking out a leg in unison. With a quick hip thrust, they launched back to their feet.
"So come here, little closer Wanna whisper in your ear Make it clear, little question Wanna know just how you feel," Brittany sang as the squad split into pairs, moving into seamless hip rolls. Kitty and Melanie paired up, the two glaring at each other, both trying to outshine the other, hitting every beat flawlessly.
The squad moved from the open field to the gym, where the Cheerios wielded red color guard air blades. Their choreography was seamless, the blades spinning and catching the light with each twirl.
"If I said my heart was beating loud If we could escape the crowd somehow," Brittany sang, strutting forward confidently.
"If I said I want your body now Would you hold it against me?" She sang, twirling her air blade effortlessly.
"'Cause you feel like paradise And I need a vacation tonight So if I said I want your body now Would you hold it against me?" Brittany's sang, her presence commanding as the team danced in perfect rhythm to the beat.
"Give me something good Don't wanna wait, I want it now," she sang. She and the Cheerios rolled their shoulders back, spinning their heads before dropping to the ground.
"Pop it like a hood And show me how you work it out," she continued, as they executed a sharp hip-thrust motion, springing back to their feet and forming a V-formation.
"Would you hold it against me If I said my heart was beating loud Would you hold it against me?" Brittany finished as the lights dimmed, the gym falling silent besides the breathless pants coming from the squad.
"Well, that was just garbage," Coach Sue barked through her megaphone, her tone dripping with disdain. "Garbage wrapped in skin. Brittany, my office. Now!"
Brittany's confident smile faltered, her shoulders sagging slightly as she began to walk off the gym floor. On her way, Melanie reached out, giving her a reassuring squeeze on the arm.
Melanie, moved to grab her water bottle, taking a sip as Kitty approached.
"Guess I shouldn't be surprised you're so tired, even after such an easy routine," Kitty said, with a smug look.
Melanie didn't even look up immediately, choosing to take another sip of water before meeting Kitty's gaze with a bored expression. "I'm curious, Kitty—do you practice being a pain in the ass, or is it just a talent?"
Kitty's smile didn't waver. " You should watch how you talk to me. Now that I'm your captain."
Melanie raised a brow. "What are you talking about?"
Kitty let out a scoff. "Please. Like Coach Sylvester's going to keep Brittany as captain when she's failing every class. I could give my dog one of her tests right now, and it'd do better than her. And my dog died four years ago."
"Understandable, dying does seem more pleasant than living with you." Melanie quipped with a fake smile.
Kitty's eyes narrowed, clearly irked, but she recovered quickly with a smug smile. "Cute," she said. "Brittany's out, and I'm in. Coach already told me. First order of business? You're going to the bottom of the pyramid. All that chub will cushion us if we fall."
