Inga paaru, indha oru vishiyamachum nadhaka vendhiya time'la nadhakanumnu paakrom

( Look, we want this one thing to happen when it's supposed to)

Vasundhara paused in her steps as she emerged from the kitchen, her son's words echoing in her mind. Looking up, she met Siddharth's sheepish gaze as he leaned against the stairs banister. He offered her a sheepish smile and wished,

Good morning

before quickly turning away, his eyes round with feigned innocence. Unable to contain her amusement, Vasundhara chortled softly to herself before making her way to the living room where Neha was seated.

Vasundhara beamed with pride as she settled beside Neha, passing her the payasam she had made. Neha's eyes widened in shock,

Aiyo amma, podhum. Inga already ivlo sweets iruku.

( Oh god, mom, this is enough for me. There's too much sweets already!)

Adhellam enaku theriyadhu, indha idhu yellam unaku dhan!

( No, no, you have to finish all this. It's all for you!)

Neha pouted as she glanced down at the coffee table, her eyes widening at the array of sweets meticulously arranged before her. The sight of the abundance of treats sent a shiver down her spine as she realized the extent of her parents' excitement. When the couple had called their parents to share the news, they hadn't just packed themselves—apparently, they had also brought along an entire assortment of sweets, possibly every variety that existed in Kerala, and that wasn't all...

Uncle, neenguka!

(Uncle, move!)

Siddharth narrowly avoided being hit by the rowdy group of kids as they raced down the stairs into the front yard, his heart racing with relief. Clutching his chest in mock horror, he shook his head, reminding himself of the need to protect himself from their youthful energy. Glancing over, he spotted Vasundhara playfully teasing his wife, attempting to coax her into sampling the array of sweets they had brought.

Instantly activating his protective instincts, Siddharth made his way toward Neha, though navigating through the crowded living room proved to be a challenge. It took him at least ten minutes to reach her, as he had to weave his way through the throngs of guests who had gathered, making it seem as though Neha's entire village had descended upon their home.

Two more days, he consoled himself.

Siddharth finally reached his wife and mother, panting from his exertions. With a dramatic flourish, he dropped to the floor, crossing his legs as he settled between the two women. His chest rose and fell with each breath as he looked up at them with a sigh, relieved to finally be by their side amidst the bustling crowd.

Siddharth, ennala mudhila, nee konjam sollen!

( Siddharth, I really can't, please tell her!)
