Karthik woke up feeling hungry and found Neha sleeping next to him, hugging him, while Siddharth's side of the bed was occupied by his bolster. Neha had left in the middle of the night after receiving an urgent call from the hospital, and she returned very late, looking exhausted. Karthik had been told it was part of her job as a heart surgeon, which involved saving lives at all hours.

He figured that was probably why she was still sound asleep, completely exhausted.

Karthik quietly slipped out of Neha's hold, and the blanket around her slid down. He frowned, then carefully wrapped it back around her, just as he had seen Siddharth do every day. Neha snuggled into it, and with a satisfied smile, Karthik rubbed his eyes and frolicked out of the room, searching for Siddharth.

As Karthik headed downstairs, he heard someone busy in the kitchen. When he entered, he found Vasundhara, who greeted him with a cheerful grin as soon as she saw him.
