Siddharth and Neha were packing his clothes, a quiet activity filled with unspoken emotions. Siddharth kept stealing glances at his wife, noticing the focus and care she put into folding his clothes. She arranged each item meticulously into his suitcase, her hands moving with practiced efficiency. She seemed very calm, quite contrary to him.

As Neha folded and packed, Siddharth busied himself gathering his other essentials, the familiar routine feeling somewhat heavy this time. The room was filled with the soft rustling of fabric and the occasional clink of toiletries being packed away.

Yenna?

( What is it?)

Siddharth was surprised that she could sense his glance without even looking up. He smiled sheepishly and, in a playful gesture, jumped onto the bed, causing a slight bounce that made Neha look up at him with amusement.

Nejama na ponuma ma?

( Do I really have to go?)

Siddharth asked, scrunching his face in an attempt to look cute, hoping to convince his wife. He had decided that he would go after all, knowing it was the only way he could help calm Neha.

Neha looked up at him, arching a brow before she nodded with a mischievous smile, appreciating his playful attempt to stay but knowing deep down that his going was for the best.

Ama

( Yes)

Siddharth deadpanned, causing Neha to chuckle as she ruffled his hair,

Easy'ah yedhuthuradha, unaku yengalam suthanumo angellam ippove poiko, nee thiruppi vandhone neraya vela iruku, adhodhae nee yengayum poga mudhiyadhu en kudhave dhan irukanum

( Don't take it lightly, you better go everywhere you wanna go. Because we have a lot to do once you're back. You might never get this chance again.)

Yenna vela?

( What do we have to do?)

We have to start getting the nursery ready, aprom shopping pananum, aprom namba veeta baby proof pananum, neraya vezha iruku

( We have to start getting the nursery ready, and we need to go shopping, baby proof the house, we do have a lot)

Siddharth's head spun just thinking about the workload. He playfully imitated fainting and dropped his head onto his wife's lap. Neha chuckled, lightly hitting his shoulder as she continued folding the clothes.

The next day, Siddharth had no heart to leave at all. He knew that if he canceled now, it would put his career at risk. He had already been somewhat inactive in the racing scene, and backing out now could jeopardize everything he had worked for.

However, the thought of leaving Neha alone was just not settling well with him. The conflict between his professional responsibilities and his personal life weighed heavily on his mind, making the decision to leave even more difficult.

Amma'vum appa'vum night vandhuruvanga, na transport yellam ready panniten, nee pogadhae aprom-

( Mom and dad will be here at night, I've arranged their transport so you don't have to worry and-)

Neha watched as her husband ran through a checklist, his concern evident in the way he kept reminding her to lock the doors and not go out unnecessarily. He knew she had to go to the hospital the next day, and he had even gone as far as requesting her father to drop her off and stay nearby, just in case. Joseph, ever the protective figure, didn't even need much convincing in the first day.

She could see how anxious he was, his worry etched into every line of his face. Wanting to reassure him, she grabbed him by his collar and pressed a much-needed kiss on his lips. The kiss was firm and reassuring, a silent promise that she would be fine and he had nothing to worry about. It was her way of grounding him, of reminding him that she was strong and capable.

As she felt his lips curve into a smile against hers, she slowly let him go. He bumped his forehead against hers, their eyes meeting in a tender moment of understanding. She chuckled softly, the sound easing some of the tension that had built up. This small, intimate gesture was enough to remind them both that they could face anything together, even when physically apart.

Poitu va, thiruppi vandhone unna avlo easy'ah vida matten naanu

( Goodbye, when you come back I won't easily let you go after that)

Siddharth smiled and promising the same to her, he left to the airport with Chitti.

Vasundhara and Joseph arrived in the same evening, ready to keep Neha company. Despite Neha's reservations about them constantly traveling from Kerala to be with them, she understood that it was Siddharth's way of ensuring she wasn't left alone at home. She didn't voice her concerns, knowing how much it meant to him to have the parents nearby during his absence.

Neither Vasundhara nor Joseph were aware of the babies' health problems. Siddharth and Neha had made a conscious decision not to worry them unnecessarily. Instead, they had informed them that Neha had been advised by the doctor to avoid exhausting herself due to carrying twins, and she would only go to work if absolutely necessary.

Their arrival brought a sense of comfort to the household. She appreciated having them around.

Naaliki kandipa ponuma'ma?

( Is it compulsory for you to go tomorrow?)

he inquired while they were all having dinner. Neha nodded gently, her tone carrying a hint of solemnity as she explained the urgency of the situation.

Ama pa, konjam critical'ana patient'ahm adhan ponnum

( Yes pa, this patient is a bit critical, so they need me there)

she replied, her sense of duty evident in her words. Joseph, understanding the gravity of Neha's responsibility as a doctor, offered a silent nod of acknowledgment, a silent show of support for his daughter's commitment to her profession.

Paravala Jose'uh, namba rendhu perum angaye irukalam, Neha poitu vara varaikum pakkathula yengayachum wait panlam

( It's ok Joseph, we'll both stay nearby, we'll wait somewhere around there for Neha to finish and come back)

Vasundhara suggested.

As Neha observed her parents' familiar back-and-forth about their plans, laughter filled the room, masking the impending storm on the horizon. Little did they know, the next day would mark a significant turning point in their lives, a moment that would shatter their sense of security.
