First days
>>>>———— ♥️ ————<<<<The household was buzzing with activity that day as both Siddharth and Neha prepared for their first days in different directions. Neha was gearing up for her seminar, while Siddharth was heading to the academy. After serving breakfast, Neha busied herself with packing their lunches, her mind racing with thoughts of the day ahead. As she finished, she called out for Siddharth,
Siddharth! sikkiram va, saapdhu first'uh!
( Siddharth, come fast, have your breakfast first!)
Varen ma
( I'm coming)
Siddharth carefully filled Kaattupoochi's feed dispenser, ensuring it was set to dispense food at the correct hourly intervals. He double-checked the monitor camera beside it, satisfied that everything was functioning perfectly, before standing up with a pleased smile. As he walked to the dining room, he saw Neha placing their lunch boxes on the table.
Siddharth gently took Neha's wrist and guided her to the dining table, where they both sat down to have their breakfast together. Once they had finished eating, Siddharth assured Neha that he would handle the dishes, giving her a playful nudge to go and get ready for the day ahead.
After completing all their chores, the couple left home and traveled together in their car. When they reached the hospital, Siddharth wished Neha luck for her on her first day, but before she walked inside, Neha stopped and turned around.
Siddharth watched his wife with a frown, puzzled by her sudden pause. She smiled warmly before wrapping her arms around his neck in a tight hug. Siddharth was caught off guard by the embrace, his surprise evident in the way he stiffened slightly.
Neha, however, sensed the nervousness he was trying to hide. She didn't want to leave things unspoken, so she tightened her hug even more, feeling the need to reassure him. Gently, she whispered in his ear, hoping to ease his worries.
Jakratha'ya iru, super'ah practice pannu
( Be careful and practice well)
Panna enaku yenna kedhaikum?
( What will I get in return?)
Siddharth joked, trying to lighten the mood, but Neha quickly swiveled her head around and gave him a passive glare. His sheepish smile did little to appease her as she narrowed her eyes at him. She twisted her lips in disapproval. She sarcastically murmured,
Puncture ana vandhiku aasai vera
( Already the vehicle's punctured)
Siddharth's lips formed an 'o' as he watched his wife walk out of the car with as smirk.
Repair pannitu unna vechikiren
( I'll deal with you once I repair it)

Siddharth hopped onto the motorbike assigned to him, feeling its weight and the familiarity of its contours beneath him. He slipped on his helmet, the world around him narrowing to the view through the visor as he focused on the track stretching out ahead. It was a straightforward course, a simple series of ups and downs, but today it felt different. He took a deep breath, steeling himself, and whispered,
You can do this, Siddharth
before kickstarting the bike and feeling the engine roar to life beneath him.
As the bike accelerated, Siddharth's eyes drifted down to the speedometer, watching the needle climb higher and higher. The speed was exhilarating, yet unsettling; the familiar thrill was replaced by a mounting anxiety. Sitting on the heat seat felt uncomfortable all of a sudden. His heartbeat quickened, matching the speed of the bike, and a strange apprehension gripped him. As he approached an incline in the track, an inexplicable fear took hold, and he found himself unable to commit to the climb, veering sharply to the left instead.
The bike came to a sudden halt, and Siddharth sat there, panting heavily as the realization of his fear sank in. The motorbike, once a source of unbridled joy and adrenaline, now felt like a foreign adversary. What used to be his trusted steel companion, responding effortlessly to his every thought and movement, now seemed beyond his control. Siddharth was left feeling disoriented, his confidence shaken, questioning his ability to reclaim his title as a biking champion.

As Neha entered the hospital, she was greeted warmly by the staff, who welcomed her with smiles and handshakes. They had clearly been expecting her arrival, and their enthusiasm put her at ease. It felt good to be in a place where everyone was so friendly and eager to work together.
Soon after, Neha was guided to a large conference room where the other experts from various medical fields had gathered. The atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation as everyone settled in for the seminar that was about to begin. Neha looked around, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves as she prepared to join this group of professionals.
As an electrophysiologist, Neha knew that her work during this three-month exchange program would be both challenging and rewarding. The seminar was just the beginning, a chance to learn, share knowledge, and collaborate with some of the best in the field. Neha took a deep breath, ready to dive into this new chapter of her career.
Once the seminar was over, Neha was greeted by the dean, who turned out to be none other than Joseph's friend. His warm smile and welcoming demeanor instantly put her at ease. They exchanged pleasantries,
Un appa'kaga mattum unna na select panla, I was very impressed by your work and education, hope you didn't get me wrong
( I didn't choose you just because of your father, I was very impressed by your work and education, hope you didn't get me wrong)
Not at all, thank you for this opportunity.
He smiled and said,
Actually which is why, I have assigned a particular patient to your care. Unnala mattum dhan indha case'ah handle panna mudhiyumnu thonuchu, they'll bring you to meet him
( Actually which is why, I have assigned a particular patient to your care. I felt like only you could handle him with the care he needs, they'll bring you to meet him)
Neha nods her head,
Sure sir, I'll look into it.
Once he left, a nurse was sent to assist Neha, and as they both walked to the patient's ward, Neha listened intently to the nurse.
He's name is Karthik, the thing is his been facing some language problems, he's scared to talk or interact with any of us, which is making it hard for us to treat him. We've even tried to bring in a translator, but he just seems scared at everyone
As the nurse narrated the situation, Neha assumed that this person was probably someone older, perhaps an elderly patient. She set her mind on helping him, whoever he might be.
However, unlike what she thought, when the nurse opened the ward door and Neha looked up, there, sitting on the hospital bed with his back facing her, was a six-year-old, scared and weak, Karthik.
