69. My powers

I need to get back to the mansion.

Some sort of distraction has to get Abigail off my trail. Knowing my husband he won't do anything. Further into the woods I recognized the house we been to on our vacation. It was already taken over by the fire but the owner living there was around. He and the hero escaped by standing in the swamp. I thought he killed her off but realized she looked happier to be in his arms than scared.

I waved at them to come over, "hey!"

"Black hats wife, here? Alone?"

"Not really but this is not the issue. Why are you still here?"

He looked at his home, "I didn't want to leave the swamp" the hero I assumed Black hat had killed off into the woods nodded at this, "I didn't want to leave him behind."

"Are you two....?"

They nodded slowly.

Inside my head I head black hat, "...coward..."

Apparently she was supposed to be a sacrifice to activate the statures. But to my surprise he used something else instead. Coming closer I realised he held her on one arm only, the other one was nowhere to be seen. He used his own limb to save her life.

"Black hat won't like it as this sacrifice won't last forever as a whole human being."

No idea what he meant I asked, "Won't last? How long, exactly?"

"Around ten hours at least, an entire human could be over twenty-four hours." The attack already lasted over five hours, according to the tall man. Although it was good to hear them being alive, it didn't matter that I was hunted down.

"Do you know a way out of the woods? Abigail is on me."

"Abigail?!" The hero choked on the name.

He asked her what's wrong as she became pale, "That monster will destroy everything her path...friends...family...heroes...it doesn't matter to her."

"Yeah I noticed" seeing Abi in action.

The tall man shook his head in disappointment, "There is not escape out the woods without being seen." I told them that I might have a way to get rid of Abi but I need to get out of this place and to the mansion. To the hero she looked at the tall man determined, "We distract her for you...make sure it was worth it."

"What you meant worth it?"

The tall man nodded, "We won't survive the smoke, the least we can do is help you."

I stood there with tears in my eyes, seeing them determined to die for my sake. Black hat on the other hand welcomed this decision. Turning on my heel I wished them good luck. Running in the opposite direction I said out loud to Black hat, "You are the coward, not helping villains!"

"How many times do I have to tell you...you hesitate, you lose?"

I stopped for a minute, "You could have saved everyone from the very beginning, what is the deal with all that bloodshed?!"

He sighted lightly, "You will realize when the time comes. Just don't lose your plan on your way." The pain in my legs got worse as I reached the end of the woods. The smoke was already all over the area, including the swamp. From the distance I didn't hear any screams or a fight, hoping that they managed to get out alive somehow.

Inside the mansion, Gold heart was there where I left him.

His pulse was dangerously low, but at least he stopped bleeding. He pressed his cape onto his wounds till it stopped. "I hope it works" I said quietly heading towards the rooms that weren't destroyed, "it has to be here somewhere..."

Outside stood Abigail.Her eyes looked menacing, as drops of blood fell off her fingertips. Gold heart and I looked at her terrified of her appearance, as I held on to the device I needed. Slowly I placed it down to the ground, "You better give me what I want."

"Give me what I wish for" said black hat amused.

Abigail jumped up into the air and headed in my direction. Expecting him to do his job her hands already had my throat. Desperately I tried to catch my beneath while her grasp tightened.

"Good bye sweetie" said Abigail with a deep growl.

Instead of panicking, I had to think of all the bad things black hat has done to my life, and there was plenty that got my blood boiling. The more came up the more that object started to get bigger. Suddenly the ground started to shake and Gold and I were falling to the ground. Abigail lost her grip as something grabbed her from the back. Crawling to Gold heart I watched how that large pet book of mine was gigantic in size. Underneath appeared the offspring's it had also grown in size. Abigail used her strength and scratched the books with her weapons, but it didn't affect them.

We watched as it lowered her towards the baby books. From our view we couldn't see it but her scream and the sound of tearing clothes didn't make it any better. I hugged Gold heart tightly.

"It is over?" he said weakly.

"That was fun" said Black hat in response. From above we saw the shield disappear, the smoke moved away from the Island towards the ocean. It even started to rain, which stopped the fire from spreading further. Flug and Demencia helped getting he heroes to the shore. If it wasn't for me they would have kicked them out and let them swim back to the land. Flug ordered the villains to throw anything into the sea that floats for the heroes to get on to. That way, their chances of survival was higher.

"This is the least I can do" said Flug out loud to the sky. Hoping that I would be happy about this change of heart.

Demencia finds this boring just speaking to herself out loud, "My Lord will have your head for this, I can't wait~"

"Probably" sighted Flug, fearing this might happen later today.

The team of heroes found Gold heart at the mansion, taking him back to the organization. I backed off to make sure they don't see me as a threat. From Abigail was nothing left but some blood on the pet books that they licked off clean. Now back to their original size they jumped over and leaned against my legs.

Scared to touch them, I felt how the top hat was taken off my head.

With his hand around my waist Black hats head leaned on my shoulder, "I didn't know you had so much hate for me piled up inside."

"I just realized, to be evil I just have to think of you and your actions."

Black hat however was disappointed with the plans, as this wasn't what he expected. Even more my grin made him frown, as I kissed his cheek, "And for the record, I am still a good-natured wife."

"We will see about that" he said, trying to sound amused.

Black hat could control my bad thoughts that were true, but if the memoires involved him I can transfer the power over to something else. That I didn't finish off Abigail with my own hands annoyed him a lot. He even hissed whenever I gave him a kiss with a smile, "Why is my evil-husband so mad? Did your wife not give you want you wanted?"

He never answered that question.
