I got maybe 3 hours of sleep that night, and the next morning, I wanted to get home as soon as possible.

When I walked up from the basement to the main floor of Brandon's opulent, modern home at 7 AM, I ran into Katie, who didn't look happy.

The spark that I felt with her just some hours ago came flooding back to me, and I stood next to her and said, "Good morning. Is everything okay?"

"Not really," Katie said, "Ivy left at 3 AM because some guy that she has always thought was hot messaged her on Snapchat asking her to come over, obviously to fuck. She was my ride home. Tristan isn't answering his phone either, I'm sure he's asleep."

I'm sure she's right about that. Tristan usually sleeps in on the weekends.

"Want a ride home?" I asked Katie.

Katie's eyes widened and she said, "Are you sure? I don't want to take time out of your day."

"It's fine," I said, "I'd be glad to give you a ride home."

Katie smiled at me, relieved, "Thank you, Cameron."

Katie followed me out to my car, and she got into the passenger seat.

I got to the driver's side, and when we were both seated, I looked at her and said, "What's your address? I'll map it."

Katie gave me her address, and I saw that it was 17 minutes away.

"Can I give you gas money?" Katie asked me.

"No, Katie, it's fine," I reassured her, "You actually live pretty close to me."

I started driving, and said to her, "You can take my phone and put on music if you want."

Katie glanced at me and smiled, "Do you mind if I put on country?"

I chuckled, "Not my taste, but go ahead. Show me a good song."

Katie laughed and said, "I'll get you to at least like country, Cameron."

"You can try," I responded back in a playful tone.

Katie put on a song that actually had a good beat, and the artist, Luke Combs, had a great voice.

"Okay, I'll admit it. This isn't bad," I said to her.

"See, I told you!" she smiled at me.

Katie's phone then started ringing, and she looked at it and rolled her eyes ever so slightly.

"It's Tristan," she said to me, and I turned down the volume on the music.

She answered the phone, "Hey."

I couldn't hear what Tristan was saying on the other end.

A few moments later, Katie said, "I figured you were asleep, it's no big deal. Cameron is giving me a ride home."

There was a pause, and then Katie said in an annoyed tone, "Yes. Cameron. She offered, and since Ivy left me, and you were asleep, I took her up on the offer. It was very nice of her."

Katie's expression was one of annoyance as Tristan spoke to her. She then said, "Look, I have to go. I'm not just going to be on the phone with you the whole time in Cameron's car. I'll text you."

Katie then hung up, and looked at me, "Sorry about that."

"It's fine," I said, "Was Tristan annoyed that I'm taking you home?"

"I wouldn't say he's annoyed, he just finds it weird."

"Does he know that we...get along well?"

Katie looked at me, "He knows that we are nice to each other. I don't tell him everything."
