It turned out that Katie planned a bar crawl for us in the city, and we were going to stay overnight at a hotel.
"I know it's a Wednesday, but Philly is always busy," Katie said to me, "I guarantee the bars will be busy."
Katie was not wrong about that. We parked and walked about a block to the first bar, which was packed.
We were able to grab a seat at the end of the bar, and Katie ordered us each a margarita.
She held up her drink and said, "To the birthday girl. I love you, Cam."
I clinked my glass against hers and smiled, "I love you, too, Katie. Hey, this is the first time that you didn't say my full name, you called me Cam."
Katie smiled back at me and shrugged, "I never fully felt comfortable calling you by your nickname when we were in limbo there for a while. Now I do. Unless you'd rather me call you by your true full name, Cameron Elizabeth Moore."
"No way in hell do I want you calling me that, Kaitlyn Rose Hogan," I chuckled.
Katie laughed, "Please do not use my full government name, and I promise I won't use yours."
"Deal," I said, not being able to help my smile.
"So, how drunk do you plan on getting tonight?" Katie asked me, "I was planning on getting a nice buzz, but I'm also going to pace myself."
"That's what I am feeling too," I said to Katie, and then I leaned into her ear and said, "I certainly don't want to be too drunk to have fun with you later, if you know what I mean."
Katie looked at me with a grin, her eyebrows raised slightly, "Of course, I know what you mean."
"Good," I said, shooting Katie a wink, and I swore I saw her blush.
As Katie and I sipped our drinks, I noticed a group of three men who looked to be our age across the bar and they kept on looking at us.
"Do you want to leave this bar soon?" Katie asked me, "Those guys across from us are kind of creeping me out. Especially the one with the hat, he won't stop staring at us."
"Definitely. Let's finish our drinks quickly," I nodded.
To our dismay, before we got up from the bar, the three men walked over to us.
"Hey," the one with the hat said to us, "How are you two doing tonight?"
"Good, thanks," Katie said back in a polite but slightly disinterested tone, "How are you?"
"Great," the guy said, "My name is Tommy, and these are my two friends, Caden and Zack. We couldn't help but notice you both from across the bar. You two don't have boyfriends that are going to suddenly appear, I hope?"
I noticed as Tommy spoke, his eyes were on Katie's chest the whole time.
Katie seemed to notice as well, because she said, pointing to her face, "Tommy, my eyes are up here."
Zack and Caden started cracking up, and Tommy looked embarrassed as he said, "Sorry. You have a great rack, I'll be honest."
Ew. What the fuck.
Instinctively, I put my arm around Katie's waist, and I felt her relax at my touch.
Caden noticed and said, "Wait. Are you two dating?"
"Yes," Katie said, "It was nice talking to you all, but we were just about to leave."
"No fucking way," Tommy said, "I'd love to watch that in action. Two hot blondes dating? That's a dream."
