Katie's mom swore up and down that her taking a bunch of Xanax was a one-time thing after Katie approached her about the pills she found in her bag.

I could tell that Katie didn't quite believe her, but she had no choice but to take her word for it.

I knew that Katie was stressed about it, and I wanted to do anything I could to make things less stressful.

As the middle of December approached, I told my managers that my schedule at work was going to have to change come January. Even though my dad and Kim offered for me to not work while being in graduate school, I decided that I was going to still work two nights a week at the restaurant.

Both Devin and Brandon were very glad about this.

"I didn't want you to leave," Brandon said, "I know we'd still hang out, but I'd miss you."

"I don't know how I'd survive work without you," Devin said, approaching Brandon and I.

It was a Thursday night shift that the three of us were working together, and it surprisingly wasn't very busy.

Brandon faked being offended and said to Devin, "You'd have me. Is that not enough?"

Devin chuckled and shook his head, "No. Not really."

"Fuck you, Devin," Brandon laughed.

"I'm just pulling your leg," Devin laughed as well, then he asked, "Do either or both of you want to grab a drink after work? Callum is closing tonight, I figured I'd go visit him."

"I'm in," I said to Devin, "Katie is hanging out with Ivy tonight."

I glanced over at Brandon when I mentioned Ivy to see how he would react, but he didn't give anything away.

"I'm in, too," Brandon spoke.

What was going on between Brandon and Ivy was a big mystery to all of us.

I knew they'd still been hanging out together since Halloween, but they both weren't giving much away about it. Ivy even was a bit secretive about it to Katie.

I figured maybe tonight Brandon could share more about it if he wanted. I wasn't going to pry.

Katie told me that Ivy had never been like this before when it came to a guy, Ivy was always very open about what was going on. This made Katie suspect that Ivy actually really liked Brandon, and it made her scared.

Devin and I met up at Hammerheads after we were finished with our shifts, and Brandon joined us about 20 minutes later.

I watched as Callum kept smiling and glancing over at Devin from the bar as we drank our beers and ate the appetizers we got.

"I love you and Callum together," I said to Devin, "It's adorable how he keeps on looking over at you."

"Thanks, Cam," Devin smiled at me, "You and Katie are great together as well, of course."

Devin then looked over at Brandon and asked him point blank, "So. How are you and Ivy?"

Brandon immediately tensed up and said, "Good."

"I don't know what to do with all of the information you're giving me," Devin said sarcastically to Brandon.

Brandon rolled his dark eyes and said back, "Fine. What do you want to know?"

"I was just kidding," Devin looked at Brandom, "You don't have to share if you're uncomfortable."

"Nah, it's okay," Brandon said, "Ivy told me that she was going to tell Katie more about what is going on with us tonight, so I might as well tell you two. I'm sure Katie would tell you anyway, Cam."
