TW: This chapter does talk about pregnancy loss, so just be cautious of that.

We stayed on the beach for a few hours, until half of us, not including me, fell asleep on the towels, baking in the sun.

Callum suggested that we walk back to Brandon's house before anyone got too sunburned, and that's what we did.

"My mom left a bunch of food in the fridge for me to grill," Brandon said when we got back and went to the backyard, "Does anyone want to help me? I've got it all, chicken, steak, veggies, burgers, and more."

"I'll help you, Bran," Jayden said, volunteering himself.

Jayden walked over to Brandon, with confidence to his walk like always. Jayden is a good-looking guy, there's no doubt. He has light brown skin, short, dark, hair, and really nice hazel eyes.

"I'll help too," Ivy said, walking over and smiling at Jayden.

Brandon rolled his eyes and said, "Sure, Ivy. I'm sure you'll be such great help."

The backyard in Brandon's beach house reminded me a lot of his backyard at home, as there was a state-of-the-art grill, pool, and cabana. However, it was much smaller than his house in our hometown.

I sat under the cabana with Devin and Callum, and Leah and Katie were in the pool.

Devin and Callum sat side by side, their legs touching, and I sat across from them.

"It's crazy to think that in just a few weeks it's going to get colder out," Devin said, "I'm not ready for the summer to end."

"Oh, I am," Callum said, "Bring me Fall. I love everything about it, especially Halloween."

"I agree," I said to Callum, "Fall is my favorite season."

"I knew I liked you for a reason," Callum said jokingly. He then turned to Devin and said, "It's pretty warm in here. Want to go in the pool?"

"Sure," Devin said, standing up.

"How about you, Cameron?" Callum asked me.

"I'm good, thanks," I said, "I'll stay under here."

As Callum and Devin walked to the pool, I saw Katie get out of it and start walking toward the cabana. I couldn't help but notice how the water glistened against her tanned body.

As she got to the cabana, she asked me, "Want some company?"

"With you being the company, sure," I said to Katie, and she grinned at me.

Katie sat down next to me, and right as she did, we heard Ivy laugh loudly at something that Jayden said.

"I'm sorry she's basically ditching you," I said to Katie.

"It's okay," Katie said, "I'm used to it, honestly. I can't say I haven't done the same thing to her either, but I wouldn't now."

"You've ditched her for a guy before?"

"And girls. But I learned that relationships can come and go, and good friends tend to last. I'm not sure Ivy has learned that."

"I agree with you," I said to Katie, "Friendships are important. Even when I was with, well, Tristan, I made time for Devin and my other friends from work."

"That's what I try to do. Hence, why I am here without Tristan and have hangout with you all many times now without him."

"Is he alright with you being here?" I asked Katie, looking at her.

She shrugged, "Eh, kind of. He trusts Brandon, but he isn't thrilled about Jayden being here. I do what I want, though. I wasn't going to let him stop me."
