Right after Thanksgiving was my 24th birthday.

When I thought about my birthday the year prior, I couldn't help but to feel upset.

It was about 3 months after I had lost the baby, and I was still in a state of devastation. I could also feel Tristan starting to pull away at the point, which also had me in a state of panic.

I remember Tristan trying to cheer me up, but his heart didn't seem in it. My parents and brothers also tried to cheer me up by taking me out to a really nice dinner, which helped in the moment, but I remember going home from it and feeling empty inside.

I truly appreciated what anyone tried to do for me for my birthday last year, but the two people that really wound up helping were Devin and Brandon.

Devin invited me over to his apartment, and he invited Brandon as well with the idea that the two of them were going to have a cook-off to see who could prepare a better dessert for me. It wound up going disastrous for Brandon, who set off the smoke alarm, but it made me laugh more than I had in a long time prior to that.

All I could think about was that I was supposed to be celebrating my 23rd birthday with my daughter in my arms.

But that didn't happen.

Now as my 24th birthday rolled around, things looked a lot different.

In the best way possible.

My life had completely changed, and the brightest part of it was Katie, who told me that she was planning a night for us for my birthday.

I made sure to take off work on my birthday, which landed on a Wednesday.

When I got up that morning, my dad was at work, but Kim, Tyler, and Timmy were in the kitchen. Kim had cooked a birthday breakfast for me and Tyler, which Tyler and Timmy had already dug into.

"Kim, these pancakes are fucking amazing," Timmy said, eating a forkful.

"Glad you think so, just save some for Cam," Kim said, giving Timmy a look.

"These might be too good to save some for you, Cam, plus it's my birthday, too. Sorry," Tyler said in a joking tone.

"You better save me some," I said back, with a laugh.

"Are you doing something with Katie tonight?" Tyler asked me.

I nodded, "I am. Not sure what as of yet, she said she planned something for me. I guess I'll see."

"She's a good girlfriend," Kim smiled, "I really like her a lot."

"So do I," I chuckled.

Before spending time with Katie, I decided to go shopping and get some coffee at the mall. As I browsed clothes, I couldn't help but do what I always did now, look and see if there was something that I could buy for Katie that she would like.

I am always thinking of her. No matter what, she's always on my mind. I always want to do something to make her happy.

When she's happy, I'm happy. Her smile is my favorite thing.

I know that I love her. How could I not?

I wound up finding a really pretty blush pink sweater that I thought Katie would love. Her favorite color was pink, and I thought it would look gorgeous on her.

As I was paying for the sweater, I got a text from Katie saying to be ready in 2 hours, and she was going to pick me up. She said to wear something cute, but it didn't have to be too fancy.
