A/N: I fear this scene was too iconic🤭🥰

YOUR POV:

:dreamscape:

A trailer house sat within the trailer park on a sunny afternoon. It was summer time and the heat was unbearable. It felt like the house was cooking everyone alive as the air had been broken for months. It had broken back in early spring and now it was the peak of summer time, and when it's the hottest.

The small fans that were plugged into the wall didn't filter through cold air and make the house any less cool, it only made it worse and more suffocating.

The only room that was decently cool was the bathroom in the center of the house, but that was only because there were no windows.

The windows couldn't be opened to let in even the slightest breeze that was outside because whoever made this house thought storm windows was a good idea. And even when the blinds and curtains were shut, the sun still seeped through.

A small child sits in front of a fan eating shaved ice with no flavor, trying to stay cool. The tv was on a cartoon as the child was practically naked, the heat in the small living room being unbearable.

On the couch sat two adults, a woman and a man. The woman sipped on some once cold lemonade, now the ice was melted and it was growing lukewarm. The man was shirtless with a cigarette in hand, he seemed to be unaffected by the heat.

The woman had pleaded to her husband to fix the air conditioner, especially because their child was suffering. But the man waved the idea off, saying it wasn't 'that hot.'

The child was an only one, though they often got told that they were supposed to have a sibling. A sibling which the stork forgot to drop off, according to their mother.

Thought despite the family being lower class, the parents made sure that their child was spoiled and loved.

It was rare for either parent to cook a full course meal, most of the time they just went with something quick and cheap. The small child didn't know any different.

While the family watched tv, the tv suddenly emitted a loud and alarming sound as a red text appeared at the bottom.

The mother and father gasped as they read the news that a child had been kidnapped and was missing. Meanwhile, the child covered their ears due to how loud and creepy the voice reading the text was.

The parents knew how dangerous and twisted the world was, they couldn't entertain the idea of one day that being their own.

It finally ended as the audio on the cartoon came back and the child removed their hands.

"That was scary," the kid whines. "I didn't like that sound."

The mother speaks up, "it's over now."

The kid resumed watching their cartoon before turning around and looking back at both of their parents, "what did the creepy voice say? What did they mean by amber alert?"

:dreamscape end:

I quickly sat up with shaky and rapid breaths, there it was again...that same dream. I calmed my breathing down as I noticed that nobody was in the bedroom, which perplexed me.

"Where is everyone?" I asked myself, noticing all the neat beds. I sat there for a moment before sliding out of bed. I walked over to the door and walked out and down the hallway.

I followed the sound of a voice, more specifically, Gillian's voice. I stumbled into the dining room to find her sitting at the table coloring with a few other kids, these were kids I had never seen before.
