TW: Public Execution
"We're tuning in live to the first district, where Promise has gathered her forces in Luna Stadium."
We were gathered by the TV, eyes locked in and minds paying no mind to anything but this broadcast. I had Vee in my lap, sandwiched between Brandon and Kibo with Nico standing behind the couch. On the screen, Promise walked up to a podium up on the same stage she performed on a few weeks ago. She was wearing her red capes, her swords on display on her hip. She smirked, now tapping on the mic she looked out into a crowd of people eager to hear her announcement.
"Well, I'm sure most of Erun has seen my latest invasion of the first district and everything surrounding it. And I'm sure most of Erun wants to know why I've been doing this, is a show of power? Is it a scheme to take over all of Erun? What is Promise doing?"
She paused, the camera locking onto her.
"It's a message. A message that Erun is not a safe place, the exact opposite of what the EPD has been telling us for years. We were promised a new life, after the devastation that was a hundred years ago, Erun was built to be a safe space for people after an apocalyptic event. But what has our government done? They've built walls all around Erun, only allowed one way in and out of the city, sectioned off the land so poverty can be pushed out near the walls, force people to live underground because of the EPDs discrimination against sub-human species, set up countless checkpoints to arrest innocent bystanders, and now... they failed to arrest The Dove for the tenth time this month! They're so focused on capturing one person, they'll open fire onto her without realizing they could strike someone completely different."
The crowd began to cheer, whistle, and start to celebrate a bit.
"Where has the sun gone? What has the EPD done to give us back the light? Nothing! NOTHING!! WE ARE FORCED INTO AN ETERNAL DARKNESS! WE WERE PROMISED LIFE! WE WERE PROMISED PROSPERITY!!"
The crowd was yelling, as I heard sirens get louder and louder.
"I WILL NOT LET OUR FREEDOM, OUR FUTURE, AND OUR LINEAGE TO BE SUPRRSSED BY THESE PEOPLE!"
Suddenly, they kicked someone on stage. With a bag over their head, guards shoved them to their knees at the end of the stage. They ripped off their mask, showing who it was. It was Emmy...
"I'll show the world exactly what I think of this tyranny!"
I reached out for the screen, half expecting Promise to stop.
"NO!"
Promise pulled a gun, and shot Emmy straight through the head. Blood splattered, and she fell to the side. The crowd was now a mob, my hand froze as Promise continued.
"Enough games! The Promising Order's reign has begun, and soon... The EPD's will end. Get this shit out of my face."
Promise now opened fire on the cameras, as they became static.
"We apologize for the imagery, however, Erun is now in a dire state...
Tonight, Erun prays upon only one person to save them."
The TV's station cut out, as I was left in disbelief.
"Dove?"
I couldn't help but cry, I didn't even get to know Emmy that much. Brandon comforted me, as Vee fled to somewhere. I was breathing heavy, as the police sirens outside turned into disaster alarms that whaled their blaring audio throughout the night. I stood, wondering where Vee had gone I saw he was fastening his sword to his hip.
