Chapter Thirty-One: Abhorrence

"Leo had no power... why did the underground submit to him?"

"All his power came from his dad, so when his dad died, so did all that power. People believed that Leo could change the underground for good because of his dad's significance, but it's obvious Leo was a coward... and a fraud."

I nodded, William bumping shoulders with me in the car. Nemi was to my other side, leaning against my shoulder falling asleep. To everyone else's eyes, I was looking at no one and talking to the seats. Brandon bumped Vee, his brow raised.

"What did you need that explosive for if you didn't use it?"

"I just wanted something to use in a rough spot, don't worry about it."

"Whatever."

Brandon was sitting next to Hawkins, and Kibo was right beside Brandon on the other side. The car wasn't cramped, but it wasn't spacious either. I sighed, as the car pulled over. Brandon tapped on his earpiece, and now leaned in to give up some information.

"Our next target is named... what the hell. Their name is... ghylaon."

"How... do you pronounce that. G-ghil-gal..."

"I don't know, it's not even a name it just looks like someone bashed their head on their keyboard and called it a day."

"Do you have any other details?"

"Uhm... a creature resembling a man except with multiple chainsaws protruding from its body."

I gasped, it's him.

"I know that thing, I saved him and other girl from the same auction I found Vee at. I can definitely reason with this thing, he's smarter than people make him out to be. Let me go in alone, if things get tough I'll back out and call you guys in."

Hawkins touched my shoulder, a bit worried.

"You don't do anything stupid, you run back here if something goes wrong."

I nodded, and now hopped out of the car. I looked up at an expansive apartment building, graffitied with Promises propaganda and murals of fallen heroes. I walked in, the main lobby abandoned and the lights flickering with an alluring buzz. I started up the stairs, the pipes on the  walls hissing air and the steps beneath my feet felt like they could crumble at any time. I arrived at the eighth floor, and pushed open the rusty door. I looked left and right, and saw the room the target was supposedly in. I slowly walked down the hall, and arrived at the door. I put up my hand to knock, and with hesitation I knocked on the door three times. I waited, my revolver close to my hand with my peripherals devoid of danger. I heard the door handle rattle, and it opened before me. Standing above me, was the man. He was wearing a jacket now, with a white shirt and black pants. His breath was heavy, and he grunted upon seeing me. He spoke to me, but he spoke like he just learned English. His voice was metal, serrated, and raspy.

"HUMAN! YOUVE RETURNED TO EYES! HAPPY TO FREEDOM BECAUSE HUMAN!"

I think he was saying he was happy that I saved him, he gestured into the room.

"ENTER!"

I did so, he closed the door behind him. I noticed his arms were normal, and only his head had the chainsaw horror. He sat down on the couch, and I took a seat on a small chair not too far away.

"HOW HAS HUMAN BEEN!?"

"I've been okay, I haven't seen you in a long time. How did you get this place?"

"PLACE... HUMANS LEAVE TO DIE, I MOVE IN FOR FREE!"

I nodded, he was being awfully reasonable.

"FIRE HUMAN HELP I!"

"Who?"

"FIRE HUMAN! THE GIRL, PROMISE NEW LIFE!"

Promise new life? What did she say to him.

"What did Promise do for you?"

He pointed to the bed, and I noticed someone was laying down almost naked.

"HOOKER!"

"WHAT?"

"FIRE HUMAN GIVE MALE FRIEND!"

"I'm just not even gonna ask, did she do anything else?"

"HMMM, FIRE HUMAN SHOW ME, HOW CONTROL POWER! I OPEN DOOR NOW BECAUSE FIRE GIRL HELP I!"

"What's your name? My name is Dove."

"NAME IS GHYLOAN!"

That's really his name, while it looked like a keyboard smash, it's actually pronounced Guh-loan. It's a strange name, no doubt it was birthed from his raging snarls. 

"Ghyloan, you're helping Promise because she helped you prosper, but you need to help us instead okay?"

"HUH? FIRE HUMAN IS NO GOOD?"

"She's killing innocents Loan, and if we don't stop her she's gonna destroy the city on accident."

"HMMMM, FIRE HUMAN IS VERY ANGRY! FIRE HUMAN IS NOT GOOD AS I THOUGHT! GHYLOAN WILL HELP HUMAN!"

I smiled, and we both stood.

"Great! Well then, let's go outside. I have friends waiting for you."

He chuckled, and we made our way downstairs. He walked with a slight limp, his knuckles cracking as we emerged outside. Hawkins, Vee, and Nico were hanging outside the car waiting for us. 

"Hey you guys, I'd like you to m-"

Bang. 

I heard it, I heard the shot. Time seemed to slow down, as I saw the bullet crash into Loans head and crush into his eye, his internals erupting as time returned to normal. I yelled, now looking to a rooftop. I saw someone walk away, I quickly pointed. Vee raced out of the car, and flew into the air with his sword teleports. I watched as he landed on the roof, we heard the clashing of metal, before Vee was returned to us with him flying through the air and crashing into Hawkins arms. He plucked a dart from his arm, and examined it.

"I know this stuff, it was the same stuff Vick used against Vee."

"It can't be Vick, Delilah do a drone scan."

Brandon took off on his triangular earpieces, and now threw it directly up into the air. From the device, a small motor whirled as it hovered for a bit before beeping and falling back down. He caught it, and Delilah relayed what she found to everyone.

"No sign of any androids or robots for miles, whoever that was, they were human."

Loan was dead, I mourned over the loss but I didn't know him that much. I felt bad, was there anything I could do? Willam appeared in front of me, those golden eyes almost immediately calming me.

"There was nothing you could do."

I sighed, nodding I stood.

"Back in the car, a loss is a loss. Let's go."

We got back into the car, with Vee being carried by Hawkins. We barged back into the car, and Vross now sped off into the night. I was upset, and that was obvious to everyone around me.

"DAMN IT! I'll find that guy, I'll find him. I'll make him pay, kill him... I'll kill him."

"Dove?"

"I'll get him... get... get out of my head, all of... all of you..."

"Dove?"

"K-k-..."

"Dan?"

"KILL YOU!!"
