The lucky one, Conrad Fisher

PROLOGUE- SUMMER IN COUSINS

Prologue

"Summer in cousins."

Cousins, the Fisher's, Bass's and Conklins have been going to the same beach house for every summer since they were in college and now with their family's it was a whole bunch of new memories they could make, where a young Hannah was sitting between Conrad and Jeremiah the three were playing with trucks, as Belly and Steven sat to the left playing with their own toys, although when Hannah looked ahead of them she caught her mom and Susannah looking at them while Laurel, her dad, Mr Conklin and Mr Fisher were playing what seemed to be a card game.

Conrad then drove his truck into her hand "ow!" Hannah voiced, as she turned to Conrad and shoved him over, and hit him and as she did, Conrad rolled the two of them over, as Jeremiah quickly stood up getting out of the way along with Belly and Steven, where the three stood there watching them, as Susannah and Brooke picked up their wins glasses "they'll be fine." they said, as they drank from their glasses.

Then later that night they all were in their pajamas and it was just the moms and the kids, as Belly, Susannah, Brooke and Laurel we're all jumping on the couch, Hannah, Steven, Conrad and Jeremiah were all having a pillow fight, where for Steven and Jeremiah, they still hadn't caught on that when Conrad and Hannah would give each other a look, it would mean that the two team up and attack whoever wasn't them, which happened right now as the two turned and smacked both of them, not giving the two a chance to even fight back.

Then usually on the first day that the Conklin's got there, after all the hellos and missed you's, Hannah and the boys had made it tradition that they were always gonna throw Belly into the pool, where she usually willingly allowed them to grab her, although when they were younger it used to be Hannah grabbing Belly's legs and Conrad grabbing her ams where after they'd throw her in, Jeremiah and Steven would then push Hannah in and when they would, Conrad would hold his hand out for her and every time he did, Hannah would go to grab it but then pulled him in, where her, Jeremiah and Steven would all laugh.

While Belly would just watch her, or more specifically on how Conrad would swim back up and drag him under water with her, where the two would start play fighting again like they always did.

But now they were older, where Hannah and Conrad held Belly's arms while Steven and Jeremiah could hold her legs, as the four of them were swinging her "one. Two. Three." they counted off, throwing her in, and as they did, Steven and Jeremiah then pushed Conrad sending both him and Hannah into the pool.

Then there was the beach which was the usual hangout spot if it wasn't the house or the pool, where they'd go swimming in the ocean, make sandcastles, or what Conrad liked to do which was play football, as Hannah stood across from them with her curly hair in a ponytail watching as Conrad was explaining to Belly how to throw the ball, as he moved his arm back showing her the motion to do so, Belly then threw it and as she did, Hannah brought her hands up and caught it, as she held it up, she raised her brows, as she turned running down the field toward's Jeremiah and Steven and when she did, Conrad ran after her.

Leaving Belly behind to run after him, where Hannah had thrown the ball to Jeremiah but as she did, Conrad came up behind her and grabbed her by the waist, picking her up off the ground "ah!" Hannah squealed, laughing as Conrad began carrying her toward's the ocean, where the waves crashed into them, the two started laughing, Belly ran to join them along with Jeremiah and Steven.

Then there was the swimming pool at night, where when Belly would go inside for her movie night with the mom's, Hannah and Conrad would sneak out there, and just sit out there whether it be in silence or talking about what they were gonna do the rest of them summer or what school was gonna be like or sometimes Hannah would be out there before Conrad and then Conrad would run in and jump in the pool, making her laugh, where as she would walk toward's him to pull him out, he would do what she did to him and grab her hand pulling her in, where the two would find themselves just staring at each other, almost like they were waiting for the other to do something.

Then there was moments that weren't just her and Conrad that were with Belly, Jeremiah and Steven, like when they sat in the living room playing cards together and laughed or would all go to the bonfire party's down at the beach, which always reminded Hannah and Conrad about the football bonfire that would be happening when they got back from cousins and those were just the calm times cause then comes the chaos.

Where one morning, Conrad was sitting at the table with Laurel talking about a paper while Belly sat at the counter with Jeremiah, Brooke would help out Susannah seeing as this was during her time of treatment for her cancer, as Steven and Hannah came walking in, Steven saw Belly going to grab the muffin as he took it from her "Steven. Steven!" Belly yelled, as she got up and began chasing him around the table "stop it! Steven! Stop it!" Belly yelled, as Steven threw the muffin Jeremiah, he caught it then he threw it back to Steven, as Belly kept trying to reach it, Steven then threw it to Conrad and when he did, Conrad then threw it to Hannah.

Who caught it and when she did, she raised her brows, seeing as she was now older her hair was longer and more wavy opposed to curly "you want it jelly belly?" she asked her, smirking, as Belly huffed, walking over to her "I thought I told you to.." she told her, as Hannah took a giant bit out of it "Hannah!" Belly yelled, as Steven and Jeremiah started laughing, Hannah turned running out of there, as Belly ran after her.

And every summer, their moms always made sure they took a group photo on the dock to commemorate each year, where in this picture Conrad had his arm around Hannah's neck almost like in a head lock as she forced a smile, Belly stood next to them, followed by Steven then Jeremiah.

Then as they got older the pictures got better, where it was Steven on the left who Conrad had his arm around, followed by Hannah who still had her curly hair, then Belly with her glasses and lastly Jeremiah on the end, where the three out of two had smiles on their faces, seeing as Conrad and Hannah in this moment had been yelled at by their moms to stand closer together which wasn't the first time but this was just one of those times where they didn't understand why seeing as there were three other people in the photo.

Then in the next one, Steven stood next to Conrad where Conrad had his arm hanging over his shoulder, where Hannah stood next to him with her hair being more wavy then curly this time she standing closer to Conrad as his other arm was draped over her shoulder the two had smiles on their faces this time as Belly and Jeremiah stood next to them.

Then the next year, the picture was about the same, as Conrad had one arm around Steven, the other was behind Hannah's back now instead of over her shoulder as he pulled her close to him, Belly stood next to her along with Jeremiah as they all smiled at the camera.

Then the next year, Steven stood next to Conrad where he had his arm over his shoulder but then the other arm went around Hannah, Belly and Jeremiah pulling them all in close.

But then the next year, it got to the point where the boys were much taller then the girls and Belly had even become taller then Hannah, as Jeremiah stood on the left, Belly stood next to him with her glasses, followed by Hannah who Conrad had his arm around as he wore his glasses, he had his other arm around Steven.

Then next year, they did a funny face one, Steven stood to the left, followed by Conrad, Hannah, Belly and Jeremiah, where they all put their fingers up to their face like mustaches, Conrad decided to take his hat off and put it down on Hannah's head, where she couldn't see where it was him laughing, then one of her shoving him, where Steven, Jeremiah all started laughing while Belly moved out of the way, then there mom's yelled at them to stop, where Hannah then took the hat off of her head and put it back on Conrad's where they caught on camera how the two were looking at each other and then turned back and finally took a proper photo with all of them smiling.
