Chapter thirty nine

"Spending the night at the country club."

Hannah had made her way through the club and to the green room, where her and all the other debs had gotten dressed last summer, as she pushed the curtain open, she stepped inside, and when she did, she the entire place looked the exact same, except it was quiet, seeing as their was no girls in her talking and gossiping as they got ready, where she walked to the chair that Shayla had picked out for her, as she turned looking at the mirror, she didn't see herself as she stood right now, but her in her deb dress with her hair curled and the veil on her head, as Susannah stood behind her with her hands on her shoulders, smiling.

And when she saw her, Hannah spun around, looking behind her and as she did, she let out a breath, realizing it was just her mind playing tricks on her, and with everything she was going through, she wasn't surprised.

As she turned walking back out of the green room, she headed the way that they had for the deb ball, walking down the hallway, she made it to those stairs, remembering how nervous she was to walk up them that night, as she walked towards them, she began walking up them, as her phone buzzed, she didn't pull it out of her pocket to check the text, walking onto the stage, she stood there, looking across the way, remembering when she stood here, looking out at Rafael, as much as she wanted to be okay with it being him, it wasn't right, and she realized that when Conrad came up and danced with her.

Although by the end of it, she was right to ask if it was a goodbye, because even though he said and that he was glad it was him, and she told him she was glad it was him too, in the end it ended up being their goodbye, because by the next morning everything that they ever were, that they ever meant to each other fell apart in the matter of minutes, which was just a long time coming from everything else that had transpired that summer.

And now here she was another summer, having tricked herself into thinking that the two of them had finally found each other again, that things could be okay, but the kind of pain she went through last summer and the time leading up to Susannah's funeral and even after was something that didn't just go away, matter of factly she mostly stuffed it deep down, and everything that was happening since she came back to cousins to save this house, was making it all come bubbling to the surface and she was afraid.

As she brought herself down onto the ground, she sat there, her mind continuing to race, that she couldn't even hear Steven and Taylor or the music that they were playing as they began dancing with each other, where she then began to realize that she started to feel like her chest was getting tight and that she couldn't breathe, as she leaned her head down onto her knees that were pulled into her chest, her hair fell down into her face.

Meanwhile, Skye, Cam and Conrad had all made it to the room that Jeremiah had found them all to sleep in which happened to be the movie theater "oh, you guys weren't messing around." Jeremiah shared, as Cam handed him a tin of food "yeah, well, just be careful." he shared "oh, I will. I got it. Don't worry." Jeremiah told him, as he turned putting it down "hey, have you heard from Taylor and Steven or Hannah?" Belly asked "no. I can go look for em." Conrad shared, as he turned walking out "yeah, I'll..I'll come with you." Jeremiah shared, as he turned following him.

Walking through the hallway, Conrad whistled "Steve o! Hannah!" Jeremiah called out "did you know that Liam Meyer got a judge involved to help him access his trust?" Conrad asked him "boy, I bet that turned out well." Jeremiah shared, as Conrad chuckled "yeah, but..if a guy like that can do it..so could we." Conrad shared "do what, Connie?" Jeremiah asked him, turning and looking into the room nearby to see if either Steven and Taylor or Hannah were in there but they weren't "you really want to, like, sue dad or something?" he asked him "I don't know. Maybe." Conrad told him, as Jeremiah sighed.
