Chapter thirty two
"My tears ricochet."
Having gone surfing, the two hadn't talked the entire time, just spent time paddling on their boards and catching waves when they came, where they walked back to the house, both of their hair was soaking wet, as Hannah laughed as they walked around the back of the house to the front "your hair is all in your face." she shared, bringing her hand out and pushing it out of his face, Conrad chuckled "yours it no better." he shared, reaching his hand out and touching her hair, and as he did, the two saw Jeremiah's jeep driving up, as they walked over to them.
Seeing Jeremiah and Belly get out of it, as they carried bags "you guys went to the store?" Conrad asked them "uh, we actually thought about leaving, but then we decided not to listen to you." Belly shared "we didn't just get groceries. We actually went to see aunt Julia." Jeremiah shared "how did that go?" Conrad asked them, as Jeremiah and Belly looked to each other "from the looks of it, I'm guessing the same as it's gone for the rest of us. Meaning not great." Hannah shared "yeah. Talk to dad yet?" Jeremiah asked "no." Conrad told him.
"Um, I'm..I'm gonna take these inside." Belly shared, grabbing the groceries and walking off "thanks." Jeremiah told her, as silence over fell the three of them, until Jeremiah spoke up "how are the waves?" he asked "it's, uh, it's rough out there." Hannah shared "maybe we should all go out later when it's, uh, smooth out." Jeremiah shared "all right." Conrad told him "hey, um, listen, I wanna be there when you talk to dad. I'm..I'm better with him lately, and once he sees how passionate we are about keeping the house, he'll have to let us use our trusts." Jeremiah shared.
"Our trusts?" Conrad asked him "no more doing everything alone." Jeremiah shared, as he looked to Hannah "that goes for both of you." he told her, as Hannah nodded "okay." she told "all right." Conrad told him "cool." Jeremiah said, as he walked past them and into the house.
Having showered and changed, Adam was gonna call soon as Hannah was sitting in the dining room with Conrad "hey, I think maybe you and Jeremiah should speak to him on your own." she shared, looking up and seeing Jeremiah walking in "no, no, I..I want you here. You and your family are a big part of this." Conrad shared, as he looked to Belly "and you stay too. You helped me and Jere get this far. Plus, it's your house as much as it is ours." he told her, as Jeremiah sat across from them, the phone started to ring.
Belly sat down, as Conrad brought his hand down, answering the phone call, he put it on speaker and moved it into the middle of the table "dad, hey." he told him "hey, Con. I only got about a few minutes here." Adam shared, as Jeremiah moved the phone closer to him "hey, dad." he told him "Jere? You're in cousins, too?" Adam asked "yeah, he wants to be a part of this as much as the rest of us do." Hannah shared "all right, look, I got a heads up from the bank telling me you're trying to access your trust. That's not gonna happen." Adam shared.
"So you've already made up your mind?" Conrad asked him "yeah. I mean, that moneys for your future. I'm not gonna let you blow it on a beach house." Adam shared "it's not just a house, dad." Jeremiah told him "you want me to bed, dad? Cause I will. I will. I'll do whatever you want.." Conrad shared "Hannah?" Adam asked, and when he did, Conrad and Jeremiah looked to her "Susannah gave the beach house to your family knowing that they would be able to pay for it but what they didn't know was that it wasn't her's to give. Hannah and her families lawyers along with my own have been looking for possible loopholes since the funeral, but there's none. Okay? The house is legally Julia's." Adam shared.
"Wait, so you've known we're losing the house since the funeral?" Jeremiah asked, as he looked to Hannah, realizing she knew "Jere, I'm not your evil father trying to ruin your life. And believe it nor not, I'm just as upset as you are about it." Adam shared, as Conrad scoffed "that's such bullshit. That's such bullshit. You never cared about this house, dad. You never cared about it because you never cared about mom." he shared "hey, hey.." Hannah told him, as Conrad turned to her "no, no, you know! More then even I do!" he voiced, as Adam exhaled "you know that's not true. Jere, come on. You get it, don't you?" he asked him.
