Chapter six
"The deb tea, is just a bunch of gossip."
Having gotten done surfing, Conrad made it back to the house and as he did, he saw his mom sitting in the living room reading a book, as he turned to head a different way so she wouldn't see him, as he took off his flip flops as he went to head into the dining room and around to the front door to go upstairs "honey?" his mom asked, making him stop on the steps "hey, hon?" his mom asked again "yeah?" Conrad asked her "would you change and meet me out back? I want to paint your portrait first." his mom told him "why me?" Conrad asked her.
"Because everyone else has things to do." his mom shared, as Conrad walked down the steps and down the hallway, looking at her "I have things to do, too, mom." he told her, as his mom brought the book back and looked at him "I think you can spare a few hours for your mother, hmm? And I'm even more sure you would've loved to see Hannah in that red dress she's wearing to the tea, it reminds me of the one that she wore when you two went to eighth grade formal together." she shared.
And when she did, Conrad remembered that, how her hair was pulled back into a ponytail except for two pieces that were curled and framed her face perfectly, where the dress was long enough but not to long where you could still see her feet and it was burgundy color which his tie matched "sure and sorry I missed it." he told her "great. I'll see you outside in ten?" his mom asked, shutting her book, Conrad turned around to walk off "see you there." he told her "put on something nice." she told him, smiling.
Meanwhile, Hannah's mom had dropped her off the tea, where her dress wasn't a burgundy color but more of a lighter red for the summer and it was shorter and had bell sleeves as she wore a red fascinate to match it, she was walking down the sidewalk, as another girl walked up to her "Hannah, right?" she asked her, and as she did, Hannah looked to her and when she did, she recognized her from last night "your Shayla, the girl Steven was hanging out with. Look, I should, um, apologize for how we all acted." she shared, chuckling "I mean, none of us expected Belly to be there so it became less of a fun night and more of a make sure nothing bad happens to her, you know? And then..then I mean you meeting me was obviously not one of my best moments between being described as a whore and then you just like everyone else on that beach having a front row seat to me and Conrad's fight with some random guy." she shared.
"No worries, Steven cleared somethings up. But I do have to say that was a nice left hook though cause if a man grabbed me like that too I'd probably punch him as well." Shayla shared, as her and Hannah laughed "thanks. Although my hand doesn't agree so I think it's good that I'm wearing gloves." she shared, holding her left hand out and as she did, Shayla did the same "they're meant to give off the idea that women like us haven't had skin to skin contact with a man before." she shared, and when she did the two of them started laughing again.
As they headed into the pool, to get too the tea, where neither noticed how Steven and Jeremiah noticed them "never kissed either of them though." Jeremiah mentioned, as he looked to Steven, he looked back to Hannah and Shayla as Steven looked to him "yeah, keep it that way. For both of them. Do you know how awkward things would be if you dated, Hannah?" he asked "okay, all right. Shayla's cute and all, but I'd avoid getting sucked in." Jeremiah shared "sucked? Sucked into what?" Steven asked.
"To all that. Girls in sundresses are my kryptonite, but I've never let one talk me into being an escort." Jeremiah shared, as Hannah and Shayla walked through the gate, disappearing from their view, as they continued walking down the path to get to the tea.
