Chapter Thirty Four

Y/n jolted awake to the buzzing of her phone, her head throbbing with every beat. Squinting at the bright screen, she saw her boss's name flashing.

"Sajang-nim?" she mumbled groggily, still trying to piece together the events of the previous night.

"Y/n, I need you at the company ASAP," her boss's urgent tone sent a shiver down her spine.

"Yeah, I'm on my way," she replied, her mind racing with worry.

As she hung up, Y/n glanced down at her clothes, realizing they weren't what she wore to bed. "Did I change before passing out?" she wondered aloud, shaking off the confusion and hurrying to get ready.

Rushing downstairs, she was surprised to find the other girls already gathered in the living room. They seemed unusually serious, which only added to Y/n's growing anxiety.

"Hey, you guys alright?" Y/n asked, receiving only solemn nods in response.

With a forced smile, Y/n quickly explained her sudden departure. "Gotta dash to the company for a quick meeting with the boss," she said, hoping to ease their concerns.

Without waiting for a response, she darted out the door, leaving behind a puzzled group of girls.

Y/n sat behind the wheel, her mind a whirlwind of confusion and concern. Despite the lingering fog of uncertainty about the previous night's events, she knew one thing for sure: she needed to get to the company pronto.

"Come on, come on," she muttered to herself, urging her car forward with a sense of urgency. After what felt like an eternity, she finally pulled up to the company building. With a quick park, she dashed out of her car and made a beeline for the entrance.

Inside the lobby, she wasted no time, heading straight for the elevator and punching the button for her boss's floor. As the elevator doors slid open, she took a deep breath and stepped out, ready to face whatever awaited her.

Knocking twice on her boss's door, she heard a faint invitation to enter. Stepping inside, she was greeted by the sight of her boss standing by the TV, his expression grave.

"Sajang-nim, what's going on? Are you alright? Did something happen?" Y/n bombarded him with questions, her concern evident in her voice as she took a seat on the sofa.

Instead of answering immediately, her boss turned on the TV, revealing news of a scandal involving IU and several other artists.

Y/n's voice caught in her throat as she tried to address her boss. Sensing her struggle, he let out a weary sigh.

"This is exactly what I need to discuss," he began, his tone heavy with concern. "We're putting the collaboration on hold. I don't want the girls caught up in any trouble. Can you inform them about this? I'm tied up with a meeting, so you'll need to stay with them for the day. No activities for now."

With a nod of understanding, Y/n accepted her boss's instructions, already mentally preparing to break the news to the rest of the group.

Y/n returned home, greeted by the sound of the TV already tuned to the news. The atmosphere was tense as she entered the living room, meeting the curious gazes of her fellow members.

"Y/n, is this why sajangnim talked to you?" Hanni inquired, her tone tinged with concern. Y/n nodded wearily as she settled onto the couch beside Minji.

"Yeah, they're calling a meeting about the collaboration," Y/n confirmed, observing the collective nodding of understanding from the group. Despite the gravity of the situation, Y/n couldn't help but notice the absence of their usual playful banter.

A comforting hand landed on Y/n's back, drawing her attention to Minji's concerned expression. "Are you okay?" Minji asked softly, her eyes flicking between Y/n and the TV screen broadcasting the news.

"Yeah, thanks for asking, Minji," Y/n replied gratefully, taking a moment before deciding to share her past with IU. "To be honest, when I worked with Jieun, I often heard her speaking negatively about other artists. She'd criticize their voices, their scent, their habits... everything," Y/n confessed, sensing the shock rippling through the group.

"Wait, you worked with IU sunbae before?" Hyein's voice was laced with surprise, prompting a solemn nod from Y/n. Taking a deep breath, she dropped another bombshell.

"And we dated."
