Chapter Twenty Eight

Y/n's POV
I looked at the girls with wide eyes, feeling excited as they got ready for their performance of their new song. They looked amazing, and I was kinda shocked at how perfect they looked. "I know, right?" I glanced at one of the makeup artists, who keeps nodding her head as she squint her eyes. Her reaction made me laugh a bit, which helped calm my nerves.

The girls were getting all dolled up, getting some touch-ups on their makeup and adjusting their outfits. I realized I had no clue what they were gonna perform. I usually just help them out and don't pay much attention to their music and dance stuff. Oh well, I'll find out soon enough, I guess.

I stood by the door, and this dude in all black with headphones came up to me. "Hey, are you the manager for Newjeans? They're up next, so get them ready," he told me. I gave him a thumbs up and peeked inside. "Hey, girls, they need you now," I called out to them.

They started coming out one by one, and I cheered them on. "Go get 'em, girls! We'll be rooting for you, Newjeans!" I said, trying to pump them up. They giggled, and then Haerin, the last one out, surprised me by giving me a big hug. "Watch us, okay? Especially my part!" she said, making sure I knew.

I laughed and promised to keep my eyes glued to the stage. "Sure thing, Haerin," I replied with a grin.

After that, I gave her a friendly pat on the back before she joined the others. Even though things have been a bit tense between the other members lately, I pushed that aside. This was a big moment for them, and I wanted to be there to support them all the way.

"Are we allowed to watch?" I asked the makeup artist. She nodded, explaining that it's a good idea to observe the girls in case there are any issues I need to report. With her confirmation, I stepped outside of the backstage area and found a spot in the crowd, which turned out to be pretty nice, right in the middle.

Suddenly, the lights went out, and when they came back on, the members were in their positions. I watched in awe as their aura transformed; just moments ago, they were all bubbly and cheerful, but now they looked incredibly cool and professional.

"You know me like no other
Even if I don't say it
See me like no other (Mm)
And I think I like your point of view," Hyein sang, and I was amazed at how different her voice sounded from her usual personality.

"Dasi dorawado dwae
I don't care what other people say

Dreaming of each other," Danielle followed with her sweet voice. Then, she winked, causing the fans to cheer even louder. It was easy to forget just how dedicated their fanbase was, but the noise brought me back to reality.

"You may be on my mind (Mind)
Everyday baby, say you're mine (Mine)" sang Haerin. I couldn't help but feel shy at the lyrics.

Am I dreaming or is she actually looking at me?

Before I knew it, I was jumping and cheering along with the fans, chanting their names. As the excitement reached its peak, I realized their performance was coming to an end. I made my way backstage to assist the staff and prepare to help the girls once they were finished.

I heard a flurry of footsteps approaching, and before I knew it, they were back, all smiles. "That was so good, girls!" I cheered, feeling proud of their performance.

They all clapped, and I couldn't resist hugging each of them in turn. Then, Hyein smacked my back. "I did great, right!?" she exclaimed.

I giggled and nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, you did! All of you did!"

Hyein smiled proudly, nodding her head like a hip-hop dancer. With that, they cheered and even took a group photo. There was a knock on the door, and I hurried to answer it. It was Hwajoo, our senior manager, carrying a bunch of food. I grinned with delight and eagerly took the food from him.

"Oppa, thank you!" I said, grateful for the unexpected treat.

He smiled back and gave my shoulder a friendly tap. "No worries, but can you handle them alone for now? I need to go see sajang-nim.."

"No worries, take care, oppa!" I replied before closing the door. When I turned around, my eyes widened as I saw the girls rushing towards me.

"Food!" they exclaimed excitedly.
