As we stepped out of the house, Danielle twirled around with excitement, her purse swinging in rhythm. "Yes, because I believe that little is more!" she exclaimed, her smile radiant.
"Okay, okay, ma'am. Let's go buy what you want to buy," I teased, offering my arm for her to cling onto as we headed towards the car. Danielle eagerly took it, practically bouncing with anticipation.
After guiding her to the passenger seat and fastening her seatbelt, I couldn't help but giggle at her enthusiasm. Today, we were off to the mall to pick up some snacks for our movie night. Danielle firmly believed that simple things were the best, and she was determined to make me happy with just that.
As we cruised down the road, Dani tried to connect her phone to the car's audio system, determined to play her favorite song. After a few attempts, she succeeded, and the upbeat intro of "Fantasize" filled the car.
"I love this song!" Dani exclaimed, her excitement contagious. I couldn't help but grin in agreement, nodding along to the catchy beat.
As Dani began to sing along, her voice filled with passion and emotion, I found myself captivated by her presence. The lyrics hit close to home, resonating with both of us in ways we hadn't expected. I sighed, looking at the stop light, not lucky enough to pass through as it turns red, stepping on the break, I decided to just vibe along with Danielle while waiting.
"But just before I go, there's something you should know, and girl I," Dani sang, I look at her, her gaze meeting mine as she altered the lyrics. My heart skipped a beat as she held my gaze, a mischievous glint dancing in her eyes.
"I fantasize about you all the time, if you were mine" she continued, her voice filled with a playful edge. I felt a flush of heat creep up my neck as I met her gaze, unable to tear my eyes away from her.
"I'd give this ... to you nine to five, five to nine," I couldn't help but feel the tension crackling between us. Dani's smirk only added to the electrifying atmosphere, leaving me breathless. The way she timed her smirk at that word makes my heart do backflips.
With a gulp, I shifted my focus back to the road, trying to ignore the rapid beating of my heart. My thoughts were cut off when the car behind me honked a couple of times, jolting me back to reality. I immediately stepped on the gas pedal, feeling flustered by the sudden interruption. Beside me, I heard Dani giggle.
"Focus, Y/n," she said, her laughter contagious. She then busied herself with her phone for the remainder of the drive, providing a welcome distraction. I felt a sense of relief when she changed the song to our favorite, "Hurt."
After what felt like a short drive, we finally arrived at the mall. Before Dani could exit the car, I stopped her.
"Dani, mask and cap," I reminded her.
Her eyes widened in realization. "Oh yeah, right, thank you," she said gratefully.
With a smile, we both stepped out of the car and headed towards the mall entrance. To our relief, the mall wasn't too crowded, likely due to the late hour. I glanced at Dani, returning her smile as she looped her arm through mine.
"So, where do we go first, ma'am?" I asked, playfully adopting a formal tone.
She squeezed my arm with both of her hands, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Let's hit the grocery store!" she exclaimed eagerly.
I chuckled at her enthusiasm, feeling grateful for her infectious energy as we initiate on our evening together.
We walked side by side as she clung to my arm while I pushed the cart. "We should get this," Danielle said, showing me a bag of chips from Japan. I nodded, intrigued by the idea. After grabbing a few more snacks, I felt her stop walking.
