Kingslanding was calm, but she was not.
Alyssa held her glass of water as she only held it and let soft and silent tears wet her face. Frustrated, pained and still silent.
How could life turn out this way?
She was once the Queen herself but now she was mother to the Queen and the King... She would have been content with it had it been five years ago, when she had known more peace when all her children were still alive...
But now Aerea was missing, possibly dead, and the last Alyssa had seen of her was before she left with Rhaena and, now her son-in-law, Daemion to Dragonstone.
Even Rhaena could not save Aerea from herself...
Alyssa was yet to meet Rhaena's son and daughter, Valarr and Visenya... A boy and girl sired by Daemion and not by her sweet son Aegon, but regardless, still her grandchildren. Yet her husband and her pride had held her behind for far too long... And now Aerea was gone... and with Aerea Rhaena.
She heard from Alysanne that Daemion and Rhaena had taken the sky, from the south, East to the North, looking where Aegon the Conqueror's ancient monster had taken her granddaughter...
Some said the shadowlands, and some said-
And her thoughts were cut short when her Lord husband, Rogar Baratheon, walk inside the chamber, Alyssa did not bother to wipe her face, and only remained as still as she softly drank a sip of her water.
"Any news of the council?" Alyssa asked calmly.
Rogar hummed and began to take off his boots as he sat on the bed as his long black hair fell over his black beard.
"Jaehaerys still believes we do not need to take action against Dorne's new Eastern allies, as they keep arriving on boats and small fleets. Those cocksuckers are filling around the narrow sea and more importantly Dorne with their small fleets, but yet Jaehaerys is not acting!" Rogar grunted as he threw his boot aside. "That fool will rather wait for Dorne to arm up Stepstones with his newfound allies, ready to lay another siege to Storm's End as they did all those years ago before he takes action! And this time we don't even have Maegor the Cruel nor the Black Dread to fight for us." Rogar threw his other boot to the other side and rubbed his eyes as he continued. "He even believes the wedding between Lyle Hightower and Rhaella must take place as originally planned."
Alyssa did not know much of the art of battle or war. She was no Visenya the Conqueror, so but she protested on what she could. "Wedding? While Aerea is still missing?! I-" Alyssa left her words undone and only looked the other way and chose silence.
Jaehaerys, forever the King. never a man... Though he was the best of her sons, still there were days Alyssa wondered if he had a beating heart for anyone who was not Alysanne... Or had the passing of his second child with Alysanne, the small boy they called Gaemon, had finally drained him of all sympathy?
Alyssa had seen when both her small grandchildren by Jaehaerys and Alysanne, both Aegon and Gaemon... But both never lived to see another year... Gaemon was a scrawny thing, almost half the size his elder brother, Aegon, had been at birth. Born early, following a long and difficult labor. Gaemon died short of the new year, less than three months old.
When will all this pain cease? Alyssa silently and sorrowfully thought to herself. Of all men and women, Alysanne was not deserving of all this sorrow...
Rogar scoffed angrily and then looked at his wife as he watched she did not speak much so he dared himself to ask. "Any news of Dragonstone?"
Alyssa softly shook her head as she bit her bottom lip in the pain of her belly.
