"She is... What???"

"With child, my Prince." Maester Dalton repeated softly.

"Fuck off, cunt. I am in no mood for your jests, you fool!" Daemion spat angrily.

"I am certain of it, my Prince.  Lady Rhaena has not bled for two months. Certain places have become far more sensitive than they are naturally. The midwife has all but confirmed it... " Maester Dalton stuttered but it only worsened when he saw Daemion's eyes of disbelief turned into eyes of fury. "She is with child, my Prince."

"A child at our age?! How is that possible?!" Daemion yelled as he grabbed Dalton's robes and pulled the older man close. "I am in no condition for jests, Dalton. I refuse to believe that she is with child! Examine her again!"

"My Prince... I swore by the Crone that I am not at fault and I speak the truth and nothing but truth so may the Warrior cut me down if I dare lie to you." Maester Dalton said desperately. "When she bore the twin prodigies, Vallar and Visenya, she bore the same symptoms according to the midwives."

But his words only added further flame to Daemion's rage.

"My mother by law died recently on the birthing bed, you fool! I will not have my wife to share her fate! Do something for of it!" Daemion yelled at him. "Save my wife or else!"

How could this possibly be? He and Rhaena were in the twilight of their lives. He was six and forty and she was five and fifty. Perhaps he was just as much as a fool as Rogar Baratheon who killed Alyssa, and now he had killed Rhaena with a child that meant his Rhaena's death...

"There is a way, my Prince... to terminate the pregnancy... But such a thing will surely make Gods look down on us for this is murder... I beg you not to consider it." Maester Dalton pleaded but obviously wished to lift Daemion's fury off of him no matter how much the Old Prince demanded scared him.

"You will meet the gods if you do not spit what you were going to say." Daemion said as once again her grabbed Dalton's robes. "Now speak."

Maester Dalton raised his hands hoping the Old Prince would calm down as he spoke with a softer voice and slower. "Princess Rhaena can drink the Moon Tea, My Prince. It may come with minor consequences, and I frankly myself have never seen Moon Tea to be used to terminate a pregnancy after a child had been conceived but to prevent one... but I am certain Princess Rhaena will be fine."

"I thought Moon tea was only ever to prevent pregnancies?!" Daemion hissed.

"No... They can also terminate pregnancies at nearly any time..." Maester Dalton muttered.

"Then why no Maester ever had stated that!?" Daemion yelled at him. "May you die and join all your sworn brothers by the pain of fire. You never cease to amaze me."

"For it is murder, my Prince! Murder!" Maester Dalton said stubbornly.

But Daemion only threw Maester Dalton on the ground. "Prepare me moon tea this instant!" Daemion demanded as he pushed Maester Dalton with his boot to walk.

"Now, my prince?!"

"Yes! Now!" He yelled at him as he followed Dalton to his study.

______________

Rhaena could not believe it.

The words of Maester Dalton echoed in her ears but yet it was not loud enough for her mind to accept what she had heard.

She was with child for the third time in her life.

Another child in her womb... At her age.

She was delighted but wished to smile and cry a tear of joy, yet her mother weighed heavy on her mind. She had only lost her mother to this.
