Travis
The argument with Arianna had left me reeling. I tried to throw myself into my training, but my mind kept drifting back to her. The intensity of our confrontation, the things we said—it all replayed in my head like a broken record. I felt a mix of anger, regret, and confusion.
During practice, I confided in Patrick and Isiah about my feelings and doubts.
"I just don't get it," I said, shaking my head as we sat in the locker room. "One minute we're fine, and the next, she's telling me she needs a break."
Patrick looked at me with a sympathetic expression. "Travis, long-distance is hard. It's not an excuse, but maybe she's just overwhelmed."
Isiah nodded in agreement. "Yeah, man. Give her some space, but keep the communication open. Don't let this fester."
I nodded, appreciating their support but still feeling lost. "I want to reach out to her, but I don't know if it's too soon. I don't want to push her away even more."
"Just give it a bit of time," Patrick advised. "Let things cool down and then talk to her. You both need to clear your heads."
As much as I appreciated their advice, one thing kept gnawing at me. Arianna had said she was feeling things for someone else. It haunted me, and I couldn't help but wonder who it could be. During a break in practice, I mentioned it to the guys.
"She said she has feelings for someone else," I confessed, frustration evident in my voice. "Who do you think it could be?"
Isiah thought for a moment. "Maybe it was The Weeknd. They dated, right? And they're still close."
Patrick shook his head. "Don't play the guessing game, Travis. It will only make you go crazier."
A rookie overheard our conversation and decided to chime in with a smirk. "Maybe she's just keeping her options open."
Patrick shot him a glare. "Go run laps," he ordered, his tone leaving no room for argument.
The rookie looked taken aback but didn't argue, heading off to run laps as ordered. Patrick turned back to me. "Travis, you can't let this eat you up. Focus on what you can control."
I nodded, though my mind was still racing. I just wanted things to go back to how they were. Back when Arianna and I were in sync, when everything felt right.
After practice, I headed home, still troubled by the thought of Arianna having feelings for someone else. I couldn't shake the image of her with another man, and it made my stomach churn.
That night, I woke up to my phone buzzing on the nightstand. Groggy, I glanced at the clock—6 a.m. Arianna's name flashed on the screen. My heart skipped a beat as I answered the call.
"Arianna?" I said, my voice thick with sleep and concern.
"Travis," she slurred, her voice thick with emotion. "I want to fuck you. But you hate me, don't you?"
I rubbed my eyes, sitting up in bed. "I don't hate you, Ari. You sound drunk. We should talk when you're sober."
She let out a small sob. "I'm sorry, Travis. I didn't mean to hurt you. I just... I don't know what to do."
Hearing her like this broke my heart. "We'll talk later, Ari. Get some rest."
"Okay," she whispered, and then, after a moment, she added, "You know, you're the best sex of my life."
Despite the situation, I couldn't help but chuckle softly. "You're killing me right now. How much did you have to drink?"
"Enough to know I'd do anything to have sex with you right now," she mumbled, her voice a mix of longing and sadness.
I wanted to tell her that I'd do anything for that too, but I held back. "We'll talk later, Ari. Get some rest," I repeated, trying to keep my voice soothing and calm.
"Okay," she whispered again before the call ended.
I put my phone down and lay back in bed, staring at the ceiling. The conversation had stirred up a whirlwind of emotions. I knew we needed to talk properly, but at least now I knew she still cared. I missed her so much it hurt. When she drunkenly said she wanted to fuck me, it took everything in me not to jump on a plane and go to her. I wanted that too, more than anything, but I knew it wouldn't solve our problems.
