Arianna
The morning started off just like any other, with Travis and me enjoying breakfast together before he headed to practice. I was in the middle of making a smoothie when my phone buzzed with a call from my label.
"Hey, Arianna. Great news," my manager said excitedly. "Drake's been reaching out. He wants to collaborate with you on a new song."
I nearly dropped the blender. "Drake? Really?"
"Yes, he thinks your voices would blend perfectly, and he's eager to work with you," my manager continued. "It could be a huge boost for the new album."
"That sounds amazing," I said, already imagining the possibilities.
As I ended the call, I noticed Travis standing in the doorway, his expression unreadable. "Everything okay?" I asked, putting my phone down.
"Yeah, just overheard you talking about Drake," he said, his tone neutral.
"Isn't it exciting? He wants to collaborate on a song," I said, trying to gauge his reaction.
Travis's jaw tightened slightly. "I don't know, Ari. I'm not sure how I feel about you working with him."
I frowned, not understanding his concern. "What do you mean?"
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's just... I've heard things about Drake. I'm not comfortable with you being around him."
"Travis, it's just music. It's not like I'm having sex with him," I said, frustration creeping into my voice.
"I know, but still," he said, his voice rising. "I don't like the idea of you being around him."
"Are you serious right now?" I shot back, feeling my temper flare. "This is a huge opportunity for me. You can't let your jealousy ruin this."
"It's not just jealousy," he insisted. "I'm trying to protect you."
"I don't need protecting from my career," I snapped. "I need you to support me."
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Ari, I just think Drake probably only wants to collaborate with you because he thinks you're sexy."
I stared at him, stunned. "What did you just say?"
"You heard me," Travis replied, his tone defensive. "I've seen how he operates."
I felt a surge of anger and hurt. "Do you really think that's the only reason he'd want to work with me? Not because I'm talented or because we could make great music together?"
"That's not what I meant," he said, but I could see the frustration in his eyes.
"Well, it sure sounds like it," I snapped. "You need to trust me and my judgment. I'm not going to let anything happen."
We stood there, staring at each other, the tension thick in the air. This was our first real disagreement, and it felt strange and uncomfortable.
Travis took a deep breath, visibly trying to calm himself. "Ari, I just... I'm worried. Can we talk about this more?"
"Fine," I said, crossing my arms. "But you need to understand that my career is important to me."
We sat down at the kitchen table, both of us still bristling with frustration. "I get that," Travis said, his voice softer now. "And I'm trying to work on my jealousy. But this isn't easy for me."
"I know it's not," I replied, my tone gentler. "But you need to trust me. I'm not going to let anything happen."
He nodded, his eyes meeting mine. "Okay. I trust you, Ari. Let's figure this out together."
