Travis
The conversation I overheard yesterday kept replaying in my mind. Arianna's past with Chris Evans was something I hadn't known about, and it stirred up a lot of emotions—jealousy, insecurity, and a nagging doubt. I knew I needed to address these feelings before they became a bigger issue in our relationship. I decided to book a last-minute therapy session to work through it.
As I got ready in the morning, Arianna was in high spirits, laughing with Miley and Vanessa as they made brunch. I couldn't bring myself to dampen her mood with my own worries.
"I have some plans with the guys today since it's an off game week," I told her casually, trying to sound normal.
She looked up from the table and smiled. "Sounds good, babe. Have fun!"
I leaned down to kiss her. "You too. Enjoy your day with the girls."
With that, I headed out, feeling a mix of relief and anxiety about the upcoming session. As I drove to the therapist's office, I mentally prepared myself to be honest and open, knowing it was the only way to make progress.
When I arrived, Dr. Lewis greeted me warmly. "Travis, it's good to see you. What's on your mind today?"
I took a deep breath and started explaining. "I overheard Arianna talking with her friends yesterday. She mentioned her past relationship with Chris Evans, and it brought up a lot of jealousy and insecurity for me. I didn't even know they dated."
Dr. Lewis nodded, listening intently. "It's natural to feel jealous or insecure when you learn something new about your partner's past, especially when it involves someone as well-known as Chris Evans. How did it make you feel?"
"Honestly, it made me feel inadequate," I admitted. "Like, if she had that kind of intense relationship with someone else, what if I'm not enough for her now?"
"Jealousy often stems from our own insecurities," Dr. Lewis said gently. "It's important to remember that Arianna chose to be with you. The past is the past, and what matters is the present and the future you're building together."
I nodded, taking in her words. "I know. And Arianna has always reassured me that she's happy with me. It's just...hearing about it like that, it threw me off."
"Have you talked to Arianna about how you're feeling?" Dr. Lewis asked.
"Not yet," I admitted. "I didn't want to ruin her weekend with her friends."
"It's good that you're considerate of her feelings," Dr. Lewis said. "But it's also important to communicate openly. Maybe find a good time to talk about it, and express how it made you feel without placing blame."
I took a deep breath, feeling a bit more clarity. "Yeah, you're right. I need to talk to her about it. And I need to keep working on my own insecurities."
Dr. Lewis smiled. "You're making progress, Travis. Recognizing your feelings and taking steps to address them is a big part of personal growth. Keep working on it, and don't hesitate to lean on Arianna for support."
After the session, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders.
The drive home from therapy was filled with a constant debate in my head. Should I talk to Arianna about what I overheard? Would it make things better or worse? Dr. Lewis had given me some clarity, but the actual conversation still felt daunting.
As I pulled into the driveway, I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. The house was quiet when I walked in, which was unusual considering how lively it had been this morning. I didn't see the girls anywhere, and I wondered where they had gone.
Then I heard music coming from downstairs. Curiosity piqued, I headed toward the recording studio. As I got closer, the faint sound of Arianna's voice became clearer.
When I opened the door to the studio, I saw Miley, Vanessa, and Arianna huddled around the equipment, listening intently. Arianna's voice filled the room, singing lyrics that stopped me in my tracks:
Oh, be my once in a lifetime
Lying on your chest, in my party dress
I'm a fucking mess but I
Oh, thanks for the high life
Baby, it's the best, that's a test
And yes, now I'm here with you and I
Would like to think that you would stick around
You know that I'd just die to make you proud
The taste, the touch, the way we love
It all comes down to make the sound of our love songLove song by Lana Del Rey
The lyrics hit me like a ton of bricks. Arianna was singing about us, about wanting to be in my once in lifetime love. My heart swelled with emotion, and for a moment, I just stood there, taking it all in.
Miley was the first to notice me. "Hey, Travis! Come check this out," she said, waving me over.
Arianna turned around, her eyes lighting up when she saw me. "Hey, babe. We were just listening to one of my new songs. Beth sent me over lyrics and I tweaked them a bit to make them more fitting."
I walked over, feeling a mix of awe and love. "I heard. It's amazing, Ari."
She blushed slightly. "Thanks. It's a work in progress, but I'm really excited about it."
Vanessa smiled at me. "Your girl is incredibly talented, Travis. This song is beautiful."
"I have no doubt," I said, giving Arianna a warm smile.
We spent the next few minutes listening to the song together, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Arianna's voice, her lyrics—they all spoke volumes about our relationship.
When the song ended, Miley and Vanessa decided to head upstairs, giving us some privacy.
As the door closed behind them, I turned to Arianna, my heart racing. "Ari, I need to talk to you about something."
She looked concerned. "Is everything okay?"
I nodded, taking a deep breath. "Yeah, it's just...yesterday, I overheard some of your conversation with the girls. About Chris Evans."
Her eyes widened, and she opened her mouth to speak, but I held up a hand. "Let me finish. Hearing that brought up a lot of jealousy and insecurity for me. I didn't know you two dated, and it made me feel...I don't know, like I wasn't enough."
Arianna's expression softened, and she reached out to take my hand. "Travis, I'm sorry you felt that way. I didn't mean to hide anything from you. Chris was a part of my past, and nothing from my past can change that."
I squeezed her hand, feeling a wave of relief. "I know. And I'm working on my insecurities. I went to a therapy session today to talk about it, and it helped. I just wanted to be honest with you about how I was feeling."
She cupped my face in her hands. "I love you so much for trying to be a better version of yourself for me. I didn't think it would be possible to love you more."
I kissed her deeply, feeling the intensity of our connection. As the kiss deepened, I felt a surge of desire. Soon we were lost in the heat of the moment. We ended up making love right there in the recording studio, surrounded by the tools of her trade and the music that connected us.
Afterward, we lay together on the rug, catching our breath. I pulled her closer, kissing her forehead. "Do you have a name for the song?" I asked, brushing a strand of hair from her face.
"Not yet," she replied, smiling up at me.
I thought for a moment. "How about 'Love song? It'll be our love song."
She looked thoughtful and then nodded. "I like that. 'Love song' it is."
