...SEPTEMBER...

Max's POV

Obviously after yesterday we knew the suspicion toward us being a couple would be stronger than even. There were photographers everywhere at the event. Pictures were taken and we actually didn't care. We just wanted to enjoy the moment and celebrate with my team. So of course a few articles got out this morning.

"Maxine Philipps and Renee Rapp out in public again"

In the glitz and glamour of last night's award ceremony, , all eyes were on Maxine Philipps as she gracefully accepted her well-deserved trophy. But it wasn't just her professional achievement that captured the spotlight – The talented architect made a striking entrance on the carpet, accompanied by none other than Renee Rapp. The two of them dressed in stunning matching silk suits. Is this a deliberate statement, signaling an official launch ?

The duo certainly seemed inseparable throughout the evening, engaging in lively conversations, sharing smiles, and even enjoying a meal with Maxine's colleagues. And let's not forget, pictures were taken of them hugging tightly and murmuring soft words into each other's ears after the show.

While neither Maxine nor Renee has publicly addressed the nature of their relationship, their undeniable chemistry and the depth of their connection have not gone unnoticed by those in attendance. But anyway, whether as friends or something more, we are big fans of Maxnee !

The rain tapped against the windowpane, I was seated on the bed, just finished getting ready. I chuckled after reading the latest headline, Maxnee ? Seriously? They found a fucking nickname for us. While part of me found it amusing, it was also a stark reminder of the complicated decisions I faced. And let's be honest, it's definitely not helping.

My mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. I was supposed to leave again, board a plane, and head towards a future I had dreamed of for years.

Earlier this morning, I received a call from a prestigious firm in London, one I had been eyeing since I started my career. The opportunity was monumental. I had dreamed of collaborating with this firm for years, and now they were asking me to work with them ? I had trouble realizing it. It felt surreal, like a fantasy playing out in real life. It would completely transform my career, making a big impact on the kids too. The offer on the table was irresistible: to head a team renovating four schools and a community center in disadvantaged neighborhoods of London. The plan was to lead the project with a team of engineers and architects but also with the community, the children, the parents, the future professors ... to build a school that looks like them, where they feel safe and comfortable.

But then there was Renee. The thought of leaving tonight, of walking away again felt like tearing a part of myself away. All I had to do was show up to my new job but every time she look at me I just lose it

I went downstairs to find Renee sprawled out on the couch, her face lit up by the screen of her phone, deep in conversation. It took me a moment to recognize the face on the other end of the FaceTime call, but then it clicked.
