Kadia and Alana took me shopping for a prom dress since they wanted the honor of helping me. I didn't mind since my friends and their moms were shopping for prom dresses. Good luck, Lena and Chelle.

We searched through the racks, trying to find something.  I didn't want a long dress so I could trip on it. We scoured the racks until Alana found a navy blue satin knee-length dress. I tried it on and showed them.

"It's perfect," Kadia said.

"It's beautiful." Alana smiled.

"And it fits." I grinned.

"We have a winner!" Kadia exclaimed.

I changed into my clothes and held the dress while we searched for shoes.

"I found the perfect shoes!" Kadia showed us a pair of navy blue Converse.

"Are we sure about the shoes?" Alana asked.

"The shoes are perfect," I said.

We took the dress and shoes to the counter.

The sales lady noticed the shoes. "If you don't mind me giving my opinion, I have a better pair of shoes that would work for you."

"Can I see them?" I asked.

"Give me a minute." The woman smiled and walked away.

We waited for her to return.

The woman returned with a shoe box and lifted the lid. "These might suit your dress and style better."

I pulled out a sparkly navy blue Converse shoe and giggled. "I'll take them."

The woman nodded and rang up our purchase. Afterward, we headed to a salon to get pampered. I couldn't wait to see Tino's later.

My dad and uncles took me and my cousins to buy a tux for tonight. We tried on different ones until we found what we wanted. While my uncles and cousins found a dress shirt and tie, my dad grabbed a navy blue shirt and handed it to me.

"Here, try this on." He shoved the shirt at me.

I raised my brow and shook my head before trying on the shirt. Next, Dad brought me a navy blue tie and held it to my shirt. He shook his head and asked for the shirt back but gave me the tie. He walked away while I stood shirtless in the dressing room. He returned with a white shirt and handed it to me. I put it on and buttoned it.

Dad put the tie around my neck and tied it. "Better. You're getting this shirt and tie to wear with your navy tux."

"I thought I was wearing a black tux."

"Not anymore. Get changed. I need to pick up the boutonnières and corsages from Dyson."

"What did Uncle Romeo order?"

"You'll see when we pick them up." Dad left the changing room. My dad made no sense.

I changed and stepped out of the dressing room. Dad took the shirt and tie from me and headed to the counter to pay for my tux, shirt, and tie.

Uncle Romeo dragged us to a barber while our dads paid for our prom attire. We walked into the shop while Uncle Romeo spoke to someone. They nodded and gestured to us to follow him. We sat in chairs while five barbers put an apron around our necks, then got to work. They cut and styled our hair. Next, they worked on our faces. While my cousins received a shave, the barber trimmed my facial hair.

Once they finished, they brushed off our hair and removed the apron around our neck. We got up from the chairs and glanced at each other with smirks. Prom was a big deal in our family. The family didn't want us to look like hobos.
