"What the hell?" Mark walked inside, seeing Meredith asleep in Derek's arms

"Mark-" Addison tried to stop him

"You better not hurt her, Derek. This isn't a game." Mark makes clear

"I know that, Mark." Derek sighed and looked down

"She's grieving still, make sure to not make it worse." Mark said and sat down on the spare couch. "But I hope you two will end up together."

"Thanks, I hope so too, I just don't wanna hurt her or push her. She decides how fast things go." Derek assured him

...

The next morning Meredith woke up with Ellis in the bed. She vaguely remembered Derek carrying her to bed as she had woken up on the couch but was so exhausted and earlier this morning Ellis climbed in the bed with her

Derek went upstairs to his own bedroom. Meredith was glad he didn't force her into sleeping together, he didn't even ask as he found it too quick as well

Meredith wrapped her arms around Ellis who was still asleep and closed her eyes. The two slept for a while longer until the smell of bacon, coffee and pancakes filled the room

"Mama, wakey wakey!" Ellis giggled softly

"Hmm.. morning." Meredith smiled

"Bweakfast!" Ellis giggled and jumped up

"I'll go to the bathroom really quick." Meredith said and emptied her catheter, she washed her hands and wheeled out to the kitchen where Derek was preparing breakfast

"Hi, good morning both of you."

"Hey, this smells amazing." Meredith wheeled up to them, not sure what to do so she reached for his hand and squeezed it softly

"How did you sleep?" He squeezed her hand back

"Sooooo good!" Ellis interrupted, causing both adults to chuckle

"Morning." Addison strompled down the stairs, rubbing her eyes

"Morning auntie Addie!" Ellis giggled

"Morning munchkin. Is there coffee?" The redhead asked

"Let me grab you some. Derek, do you want a cup as well?" Meredith asked

"Sounds good, thank you." He nodded and made some more pancakes as Ellis was already digging in

Meredith grabbed both of them some coffee as Mark entered the kitchen as well

"Morning guys." He said and wrapped his arms around Addison, hugging her softly from behind

"You want some coffee?" Meredith asked him with a soft smile

"Yes, would love to. I slept so short." He groaned

"No one said you had to stay up to watch that whole football game." Addison chuckled

Meredith wheeled towards Mark with his coffee, not noticing her leg started spasming

"Mer!" Addison jumped up, grabbing a towel as the hot coffee spilled over Meredith's thighs

"Fuck!" Meredith gasped, knowing this was bad as her lower legs only started to spasm even worse

"Okay, we need to remove your pants." Mark said and did so, leaving her in her panties

"I'll get the first aid box." Derek said and ran off to get it

"Mama?" Ellis whimpered

"Your mommy will be fine, she spilled some coffee." Addison tried to distract her and carried Ellis to the playroom

"Is it bad?" Meredith asked, quite scared because she couldn't feel a thing but her spasms only got worse

Derek tried to carefully remove her legs and only then it became visible that the skin was badly burned

"Fuck!" Meredith groaned, angry at herself

"It's okay, let Mark take care of it." Derek wrapped his arms around her

"Stupid, stupid legs!" Meredith teared up

"I'm sorry." Derek whispered while Mark was focussed

Luckily he was an expert and immediately did all he had to do for her

"Do you feel your body alarming you in any other way?" Mark asked as spinal cord injuries can be very complex

"I don't think so.." Meredith muttered

"We'll check in a minute." Mark nodded and started to clean the burns

"Markie, how bad is it?" She asked, terrified of hearing the truth

"Not too horrible but I wanna keep an eye on it. Derek, can you grab her a pair of shorts?" Mark asked. "And my bag, please."

Derek did as he was asked and watched how Mark grabbed some kind of gel looking liquid, he put it on Meredith's legs and put on the shorts on her, lifting her onto the couch with her legs still

"I'm sorry." Meredith sighed

"Don't be, everyone can get themselves burned." Derek said softly
