"Dewek??" Ellis rushed towards him

"Yes Ellis?" He chuckled at her excitement.

"I gots my dance show! Wanna come?"

"You want me to come?" He smiled

"Uhu!! Uncle Mawk and auntie Addie will come too! And Ca-lyn and -topher!"

"Everyone's coming for you? Then I think I can't miss it."

"Mama! Mama! Dewek's coming too!" Ellis ran off to tell her mom

"Hey, you really wanna come?" Meredith asked with a smile

"Of course, she seems really excited. When is it?"

"Tonight, I'll drop her off in a bit, then I'll come back to get a shower and I'll leave here around 7." She explained and got Ellis ready

"Mama! We gots to leave!"

"Say bye bye to Derek. We'll see him later." Meredith waved as they both left the house

After a while Meredith got back and quickly showered. She made sure to wear a nice outfit and brushed her hair as her natural waves were showing

"Hey, you look amazing!" Derek told her

"Thanks.." Meredith nodded, struggling to accept the compliment. "You driving with me?"

"I wanna drive as well?" He offered

"I'll drive. Ellie has her carseat." She said sternly

"Let's grab out jackets." He smiled and opened the door for her

"Addison and Mark are picking up Carolyn and Christopher." Meredith told Derek

"Mom and dad are proud of Ellis." Derek told Meredith

"They are." Meredith smiled. "Your parents are saints, same with Addie and Mark. They're literal angels."

"They always say you're family, and in our family we would do everything for each other." He explained

Meredith nodded. "We're here." She said, quickly wiping some tears away.

While she got in her wheelchair she saw the others walking up to them

"Shall we go inside?" Christopher suggested

"Yes, let's go." Mark nodded, walking next to Meredith to catch up

"Good evening, you're here for the dance show?" A woman asked at the enterance

"Yes, we're here for Ellis Grey Dandridge." Addison said

"Of course, go ahead." She smiled

The family entered but soon enough faced the first struggle of some stairs.

"Excuse me, is there an accessible route to the seats?" Mark asked one of the people that worked for the theater

"Oh.. Uh, no.." She muttered, staring at Meredith

"Can I carry you?" Mark asked Meredith

"Sure." She sighed and let him scoop her up

Immediately everyone started looking at them as they were all curious about what was happening. Derek took her wheelchair and carefully carried it up the steps

"Wanna sit in your chair or on these seats?" Mark asked her, damn well knowing there was no good spot for her wheelchair

"Just give me my cushion and I'll sit on the seat." She told him, her arms tight around his neck

Derek placed it down for her and Mark placed her down carefully

"Thanks." She thanked both of them. They all sat down and Derek was actually happy to sit next to her, he saw this as an opportunity to get to know her better

"How much longer before they start?" Carolyn asked

"Looks like it's about 10 more minutes." Addison announced

"I bet she's super excited to be on stage." Derek said

"Yeah, she loved it last year, I think she will love it even more now." Meredith nodded, she saw how Mark had stuffed Addison's scarf behind her back for her own comfort but it was below her injuryline so she hadn't felt it

"I think they're about to start." Addison said and the lights indeed started to turn off, the spots went on and music started playing

Meredith saw her daughter after a few other groups. She was so proud as she saw Ellis performing her dance

The family made sure to clap as loud as they could, Ellis had spotted them and waved before she had to leave the stage. The rest of the show went fine, but Meredith was glad the break had started

"She did amazing!" Addison smiled

"She looks so happy." Meredith smiled widely. "I know it means a lot that everyone's here, thank you."

"Of course, we wouldn't wanna miss this." Carolyn assured her

"I need to use the bathroom." Addison said

"Me too, dear." Carolyn said and stood up

Meredith was glad she had put in a catheter as she didnt wanna be lifted again

"Are you sitting comfortably?" Mark asked her as Derek en Christopher started talking

"Not really but it's fine, are my feet touching the floor?"

"Not completely." Mark shook his head, hoping her legs wouldn't swell too much

"That's probably the reason, but it's okay." She assured him

By the end of the show Ellis appeared once more in the finale dance. The family clapped and Mark lifted Meredith again to carry her down the stairs, eventually putting her back in her wheelchair

"I'll go pick her up." Meredith said

"Can I drive home with you?" Derek asked

"Of course." She smiled

"We'll go drop off mom and dad afterwards." Mark told them

"I'll go get her." Meredith nodded and wheeled to the other entrance.

"Mama!" Ellis spotted her and ran over, a small step prevented her from getting further

"Hey monkey, we're so proud of you! Can you grab your bag for me?"

"Kay!" Ellis giggled and ran off to grab her bag and jacket

"Perfect sweetie, let's go see the others, everyone loved your show."

"I tiwed.." Ellis muttered

Meredith hung Ellis' bag on the back of her wheelchair and lifted her daughter onto her lap, wheeling out to the others

"Wow Ellis! You were the star of the show!" Mark was the first to say

Everyone gave Ellis some cuddles before they all left

"Do I place her in the car seat?" Derek asked as Ellis was half asleep in Meredith's lap

"No, it's okay." Meredith assured him, wheeling up to the car and carefully lifting Ellis into the car seat, which wasn't easy at all. But she needed to be sure her daughter was buckled in right. She would take no risks when it came to Ellis' safety

"Thanks for letting me drive with you." Derek smiled as both adults got in the car

"Thank you for coming, we appreciate it. Ellis adores you." Meredith said and started the car to drive home

"Thanks for letting me." Derek smiled and saw her yawning

I feel like I've been writing a looot for this story hahaha. I got 2 more chapters ready 😆 but I just spend my first night at my appartment, I don't have any wifi yet and tomorrowbis my first day back at work after surgery (recovery will still be going on for some months) so enjoy my writing, this chapter and this story ❤️
