"Meredith, are you ready to get inside?" Bailey asked.
"Sure." Meredith nodded. This would be slightly different, they'd both be strapped in with their patient on a stretcher in the middle
Meredith got lifted inside before they carried her wheelchair, strapped it on, then they loaded in their patient and Bailey and the pilot got in as well
All went fine, Meredith and Bailey were watching their patient closely until suddenly alarms went off
"It's not our patient." Bailey frowned and looked at the pilots who started discussing stuff with each other
"What's happening?!" Meredith asked, slightly panicking as they were slowly losing altitude
"We seem to have mechanical problems." One of them said
"No- Bailey-" Meredith looked in fear at her co worker
"I'm sure everything will be fine." Bailey squeezed Meredith's hand softly, internally panicking but she saw how Meredith's leg started spasming
"We'll make an emergency landing here in the field." They announced
Meredith only could see grass around them, which scared her. If they'd get stuck here she'd never be able to get far in her wheelchair
They started dropping faster, which was pretty terrifying, they swung a bit and eventually made a rough landing, glad their patient was sedated and asleep
Meredith winced as they hit the floor, her back hurting from it
"Are you okay?" Bailey rushed to Meredith
"Fine- Our patient?" Meredith asked, completely terrified
"He's doing okay." Bailey checked out the patient while Meredith unbuckled herself and tried to lean forward as much as possible to help with the patient
"Hmm." Meredith winced as it was hard for her without her wheelchair
"Meredith, stay seated, okay?" Bailey asked, worrying about her former intern
"I can help-" Meredith protested
"But all is okay." Bailey assured her. "What will we do now?" Bailey yelled for the pilots
"There's another heli coming soon but we'll need to get a bit further away from this one. We can carry the stretcher." The pilot announced
"Bailey- I-" Meredith was almost in tears as she looked at her co worker, knowing she couldn't wheel through the long grass
Meanwhile in Seattle Derek had heard the news about the chopper needing to make an emergency landing and losing contact with them
"Teddy, send a new helicopter to them, now!" Derek was so nervous that he kept walking up and down
"There's one on the way, keep calm! You shouldn't be in here, not when this is about your girlfriend." She tired to tell him but it was of no use
"Damnit, if something happens, you're responsible for her!" Derek scolded and ran off, he wanted to go get Ellie, he knew holding her would help but he was too nervous and she'd notice and probably pick up his strange behaviour
"What's wrong with Mer?!" Mark ran inside
"Their heli had to make an emergency landing but we haven't heard of them at all.. They're sending help to get them home safely." Teddy explained to Mark while Derek was close to having a panic attack
"Where did they land? Are they on flat terrain?" Mark demanded
"A grassfield." Teddy said. "Which means they're safe."
"Which means Mer can't get away!" Mark growled angry
But while there was chaos at the hospital it only had gotten worse on the field
"Come on, honey." Bailey let Meredith transfer into her wheelchair, they really needed to get away from here
Meredith was fighting her tears from welling up as she felt such a burden while being so scared
"You got this, I'll help." Bailey promised her and started pulling her wheelchair, Meredith didn't know if and how she could help as she was tilted back and pulled backwards to avoid getting stuck on the grass
"Stop if I'm hurting you, please. I can try pushing on my own." Meredith told Bailey
For about 5 minutes they continued but it was too hard for Bailey
"Go, I got it." Meredith said and put her hands on her wheels, Bailey panting for air
"Just a little further so it's easier for the chopper to land." One of the pilots said, helping them
Meredith nodded and pushed hard, moving a lot inside her wheelchair, her arms throbbing awfully painful
"I can't-" Meredith cried out, barely sitting up
"They're here!" The pilot announced
"It's okay, it's okay. We'll be out of here soon." Bailey rubbed Meredith's shoulder softly
Meredith nodded, waiting as the chopped landed, not even bothering to fix her body properly
The chopped landed, causing a lot of wind, the pilots protected the patients and quickly loaded him in
"Our patient needs to go to Seattle Grace asap!" Bailey demanded. "Someone carry Dr Grey inside!"
The new pilot immediately started helping and quickly enough they were able to leave
Derek and Mark were waiting on the helipad. Addison was in Meredith's office playing with Ellie, waiting for Meredith as well
The chopper finally landed and they rushed the patient inside as the final part of the surgery had to be completed. Richard would take over from Meredith
Derek saw Bailey give Meredith a final hug before she rushed inside after her patient, Mark quickly lifting Meredith into his arms when she started sobbing
"Sorry- I'm sorry!" She whimpered, Derek quickly taking her chair out before kissing her head
"Want me to place you down?" Mark asked
"Yes.." Meredith sniffled and was so glad to be safe in her chair again, she reached out for Derek's hand and held it extremely tight
"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" He asked, really worried about her
"I don't think so." Meredith shrugged. "Just sore. I wanna see Ellie, please." Meredith's voice shook
Derek, Mark and Meredkth quickly made their way over to her office, Meredith immediately wheeled up to her daughter and held her extremely tight
"Oh Mer.." Addison squeezed her best friend's hand
Mark walked up to his wife and held her, his hand protectively on her belly, rubbing it softly in a try to calm her down, knowing it wasn't good for their baby
