Meredith was currently trying to get out of the conversation she was having. It was some rich guy that was obviously flirting with her

"Hi Mer." Derek walked up to her, noticing something was up

"Mr Peters, this is Dr Shepherd, my partner." Meredith quickly took her chance to save herself

"Oh.." He looked at Derek. "What's your specialty?"

"I'm a neurosurgeon. Actually I just published a new article about surgery with tumors." Derek squeezed Meredith's hand

"I'm sorry Dr Grey, can I talk to you about the donation?" Mr Peters asked

"Of course." She nodded and wheeled away from the table

"You're in a wheelchair?" He frowned as he finally noticed

"Yes I am, have been for a few years." Meredith said, noticing his change in behavior

"I'll talk to you later." The guy said and took off

"Guess I'll have to play on people's pity instead." Meredith snorted sadly

"Do you wanna go home?" Derek asked while stroking his fingers over her shoulder

"I wanna say yes but Richard will kill us." Meredith muttered

"I don't want you to be unhappy either, Mer." Derek whispered

"I know.. I'll be fine." She sighed and slowly wheeled off to get herself another drink, followed by Derek

"Maybe we should go home anyway." Derek held her hand and helped pull her forward

"I love you." She whispered

The two of them escaped the event and made it home. Luckily for them Ellis stayed at Derek's parents' house

"Are you in for some cuddling?" Derek asked her

"I for sure am." Meredith smiled. "Can we cuddle in bed, please?"

"Of course, go ahead and get ready. I'll grab us some water." Derek smiled and did so, and also stripped out of his suit and changed into a shirt and some pj shorts. Eventually he went to Meredith's bedroom, finding her waiting on the bed. "Hey you."

"Hi." Meredith allowed him to kiss her lips, the two kept kissing for a bit and giggled softly as they hugged

"You're so gorgeous." Derek whispered

"You make me feel so safe. You're so sweet and gentle." Meredith moaned in his arms

"I'd do everything for you." He whispered and kissed her lips again

Meredith rubbed his thigh with her hand, she felt like she wanted to explore him

It still felt weird as she was so used to her husband and sharing a bed with him but lately Derek had spend multiple nights with her and it had felt so safe

The night continued while Meredith and Derek fully explored himself, this was their first time in their relationship

And not only was that a big change for them, also to explore what Meredith's body could do and how everything felt for her

The next morning the two woke up in each other's arms, naked and warm and full of love

"Hi." Derek whispered as he noticed she had woken up

"Hi." Meredith smiled as she looked up at him, burying herself deeper in his strong and warm arms

"Are you cold?" Derek asked

"A little." Meredith nodded

Derek quickly grabbed his shirt and pulled it over Meredith's head

"Thanks, this is a lot better." She smiled and pulled him in for a kiss. "You don't regret last night, do you?"

"Not at all, Mer. I enjoyed it, I enjoy you. And I really love you." He whispered, tucking some hairs behind her ear. "Did you regret it?"

"No. It felt great.." Meredith honestly smiled. "Just weird and different."

"Hmm.." Derek held her tight, not really knowing what to say now

The two of them had a slow morning until they had to go pick up Ellis as they would go to the zoo with the little girl. Meredith had been ready and was waiting for Derek as he was on the phone about a patient

But then Meredith's phone started ringing, it was Richard and she feared this would happen..

"Hello Meredith? Why on earth did you and Shepherd leave last night?"

"Richard, we-" Meredith tried to explain but Richard didn't let her

"I counted on the two of you! Derek is an extremely well known surgeon, he could have helped us collect even more money."

"Richard, Derek took me home because it was awkward, okay? I didn't feel comfortable from the start, you know people doubt doctors in wheelchairs." Meredith said. "I didn't wanna do it, I tried but it was horrible. Derek took me home."

"I'm sorry, Meredith.. I didn't think of it like that." Richard quickly said

"I don't wanna do these things again, Richard. I'm really sorry."

"I understand, I'm sorry that I wasn't more thoughtful about it beforehand." Richard apologized

"I should have came to you before, sorry." Meredith said

The two of them ended the call and Derek hugged her from behind

"I hate to see you struggle with yourself. I wish you could see yourself the way I see you."

"Not sure if that'd change much." She muttered

"Meredith, I'll keep repeating it but I'm in love with you and your little flaws like snoring and scrunching up your nose every time you spot vegetables." Derek chuckles

"I don't deserve you." Meredith whispered and they started hugging
