Derek took Meredith to his cliff the next day. He, Meredith and Ellis were in the car and ready to go

"Are you okay?" Derek rubbed her hand softly

"Yeah.." Meredith took a deep breath and closed her eyes as Derek started driving. He was glad it was so warm today, hopefully the three of them could spend some time out

"Dewek? We taking the fewwy?"

"Would you like that?" Derek asked her

"Yes!" Ellis giggled

"Mer, is that okay for you?" Derek asked her, it was visible that she was distracted

"Yeah. Very okay." Meredith nodded

Derek drove his car onto the ferry and helped Meredith out. The boat was quite stable so it was easier for Meredith to wheel around

"Mama?" Ellis walked next to her mom, the three of them making their way to one of the benches, the three of them sat there for a while until it was time to get back in the car. They continued their drive to the cliff and Meredith sighed in relief as they arrived, quickly getting out of the car and into her wheelchair

"Dewek? Can we pway?" Ellis asked with wide eyes

"Of course, mommy and I can push you on the swing, how does that sound?" He suggested

"Yes! Mama push me!" Ellis started running, the two adults following her

Hours of playing went by, Ellis was asleep on Meredith's lap as they headed inside the house

"I'd love to show you around, is that okay?" Derek asked

"Of course. Mind if Ellis stays on my lap? I don't want her to be scared if she wakes up in a house she doesn't know yet." Meredith asked

"Of course I don't mind. Do I need to carry her?" He offered

"She's fine here I think." Meredith smiled softly and let Derek show her around

"What do you think of our bedroom?" Derek opened the door

"Derek,. The view.. wow.." Meredith muttered as they looked out on Seattle, exactly the view Derek fell in love with when he bought the land

"Isn't it amazing? I was thinking to buy a whole new bedroom, something we both like but is also perfect for your needs.. Your furniture should stay at your house since you said some nights it might be easier to stay there." Derek brushed his fingers through her hair

"Derek.. This is your house, you need to be happy with it." Meredith whispered

"That's why I need you to like it as well. Because I wanna be happy here with you and Ellis as much as we can, Mer." Derek kneeled down in front of her, holding onto her hand

"We'll love it here, Derek. I can assure you that." Meredith smiled

"It might be a bit tricky and we'll have to see if the distance works out with work and our private lives but we can always spend worknights at your house and weekends and days off here in our house." He smiled

"I'm sure we'll work it out." Meredith giggled and pulled him in for a kiss

Some hours later Meredith was asleep in the car while Derek drove them home when suddenly Bailey called her

"Damn.." Meredith sighed as she woke up and picked up. "Hello?"

"Grey! Good, I need you on my case. We should fly out, can you be ready to leave in a few hours?" Bailey asked her

"Excuse me?" Meredith suddenly was very awake

"Vip patient, we need to go get them but need to perform surgery there first before we can transport them to Seattle and I can't do this without you, Grey. Don't make me beg for it."

"Bailey, I can't just fly out for a patient and operate in another hospital." Meredith said anxiously

"Grey, this patient will die without our help, we'll do something groundbreaking!" Bailey kept trying to convince her

"There's no one else available?" Meredith asked

"Not as qualified as you, Grey!" Bailey kept going. "Chief also said to call you.."

"Sounds like I don't have a choice.. but.. I had a leave of absence." Meredith said

"I know, Grey, but this is really important." Bailey made clear. "I'll tell them you're flying with us, we'll meet at 7pm from the helipad."

"Bailey, I don't even know if that works out with my wheelchair?!" Meredith said, now slightly angry for being ignored

"We'll make it work, Grey. This isn't your first unexpected situation. I gotta go now so all will be ready for us."

"But-" Meredith said but Bailey had hung up already

"Can you hurry a bit? I.. I gotta be at the hospital before 7pm.." Meredith said, feeling super insecure. "I don't even know if someone can watch Els.."

"How long would it be?" Derek asked her with a frown

"Surgery as soon as we operate, probably flying early in the morning and then back to surgery.. I'd say around 24 hours.." Meredith muttered

"I can watch her if that's okay with you?" Derek suggested

"S-Sure." Meredith nodded

"I'll take good care if her, she'll sleep in her own bed and all will be okay." He told her softly
