Meredith wheeled out of the hospital. She was absolutely exhausted after her busy day, she could barely push herself to her car. Once inside her legs started spasming so she quickly drove herself home, needed to lay down and take a nap

"Mama's there!" Ellis giggled as she spotted Meredith's car

"Mommy's had a long day, you should give her some tight hugs." Derek said as he had offered to watch the little girl

"Mama!" Ellis ran towards her but Derek immediately saw how much she struggled to even enter the house

"Monkey-" Meredith sounded absolutely exhausted but let her daughter climb onto her lap, which caused her left leg to fall off the legrest

"Hey.." Derek walked up to her, quickly fixing her leg before he gave her a soft kiss. "Are you tired?"

"Yeah." Meredith nodded and hugged her daughter

"Mama, come look! We made a cake!" Ellis wanted her mom to see

"Hmm.. Show me." Meredith nodded, pushing rough on her arms to get herself moving

"Maybe we should let mommy take a nap?" Derek frowned

"No I'm fine, I wanna catch up with Ellis first." Meredith said sternly, not wanting to end up like her mother

Derek nodded, he got the clue and followed them

"Mama, we gots yummy cake! Like Ca-lyn!"

"Oh really? And you made it? My teeny tiny chef?" Meredith chuckled softly

"Yes mama! With Dewek!" Ellis giggled and leaned forward, jumping off her mom's lap to steal a piece of the cake

"Hey you-" Meredith wanted to stop her but honestly was too tired

"Mama, is so yummy!"

"Hmm.." Meredith sighed. "What do you think about some movies in bed, monkey?"

"Wanna go out! On the swing!" Ellis giggled

"What about a quick nap first?" Meredith tried

"I don't mind playing on the swing with her while you take a nap." Derek said, handing Meredith a piece but she refused, something he didn't expect

"Mama, we going to play?" Ellis asked her mom

"Monkey.." Meredith muttered, almost falling asleep right where she was

"Why don't we go together?" Derek suggested

"But I want my mama.." The girl complained

"Coming." Meredith muttered

"Yay!" Ellis giggled and skipped off to the playroom

Derek saw how Meredith forced herself to follow after her daughter and was worried

"Mer, do you need some rest?" He asked her

"I'll rest later." She yawned and went with her daughter but stayed in her wheelchair

"Mama, come pway!" Ellis whined

"Monkey-" Meredith sighed but lowered herself on the floor, almost falling onto her butt as her arms gave out

Derek noticed how she almost curled up into a ball, unable to stay sitting up

"Mommy, pway!" Ellis demanded a bit too excited

"Ellis.." Derek tried to distract her by playing along

"Want my mommy-" She muttered and turned to face Meredith, jumping into her arms

"I'm here monkey, what's up?" Meredith frowned, her daughter usually never behaved like this

"Missed you." She muttered. "Don't want you to leave me."

"Oh monkey, I didn't leave you. I was at work, princess."

"Dada also left!" She stomped

Meredith looked at Derek, he immediately got the clue. He needed to leave them on their own for a little bit so he did

"Dada never wanted to leave you, sweetie. He told me how much he loved you. Your daddy is so proud of you, sweetie." Meredith teared up as she hugged her daughter close

"But why he leave?" Ellis frowned

"There's no reason, monkey." Meredith felt choked up. Honestly it was really hard to try to explain to a child

"I don't like it." Ellis pouted

"Me neither, monkey."

"I wanna go to heaven.. see daddy." Ellis muttered

Meredith felt her anxiety getting so much worse as her daughter said that

"No monkey.. No we're not going, we'll think a lot about daddy while we're here." Meredith kissed her daughter's head

"Kay.." Ellis muttered and hugged her mom tight, causing Meredith's legs to start spasming roughly

"Sorry monkey." Meredith sighed, leaning onto her legs in a try to stop them from shaking

"Cuddles, mommy. Lots of cuddles." Ellis muttered softly

"Why don't we go watch some movies in bed while snuggling?" Meredith suggested, emotionally and physically wrecked

"Kay." Ellis nodded, clearly the little girl was quite tired as well

"Let's go, princess." Meredith muttered as Ellis climbed off her lap. Her legs started spasming again which made it even harder to get back into her wheelchair

"Mama?" Ellis frowned, it usually never took this long

"I'll be- Fine-" Meredith panted for air as she was exhausted

"Gots get Dewek?" She asked

"Yes please." Meredith finally gave in after several tries, which left her almost in tears on the floor, her legs bumping up and down widely

Ellis ran off and returned with Derek

"Ellis said you needed to get back up?" Derek asked

"Yeah.. please." She sighed disappointed

"It's fine." Derek scooped her up and placed her in her wheelchair.

But he saw how Meredith struggled to push herself, her arms were so sore, her legs kept going which made her slide in the chair

Derek followed them to the bedroom, helping Meredith in bed after he asked if it was okay

"Fwozen, mama! We watch Fwozen!" Ellis giggled softly

"We can, sweetie." Meredith nodded softly and tried to scoot a bit to the middle but struggling to

Derek squeezed in and casually gave her a hand

"Thank you." Meredith muttered

Derek wrapped his leg around Meredith's, hoping the pressure would calm them
