"Are you two ready to go?" Derek asked

"We are, right monkey?" Meredith asked Ellis

"Yes mama!" Ellis giggled softly and ran to the front door

"Maybe it's best if we go with my car?" Derek carefully suggested

"I- I don't know.. Ellis needs her car seat, Derek." Meredith said, visibly stressed

"Right, I'm sorry." He nodded, dropping it because of Meredith's reaction

"Thank you." She muttered softly and wheeled after her daughter, helping Ellis inside

"Careful-" Derek softly said as he saw how she leaned onto the healing wounds

"It's fine." Meredith muttered. "Can you put my chair in the back, please?"

"Of course." Derek nodded and did so, once finished he took a seat next to her

Meredith started driving, Derek smiled as he sat next to her, wishing he could hold her hand but she used hand controls. They drove up to the ferry boats

"Wanna get out?" Derek smiled as he turned at Meredith

"Pwease!" Ellis yelled

"Okay." Meredith chuckled. "Would you mind getting my chair, please?"

"Of course, coming right up." Derek smiled and got out, then helping Ellis out

"Mama! Mama!" Ellis giggled as she skipped, holding Derek's hand

"It's a bit rocky." Meredith chuckled as she wheeled a bit from side to side

"Let's go to that bench." Derek pointed at one and Meredith wheeled up next to it

"I have a thing for ferry boats." Derek muttered

"Do you?" Meredith smiled

"I love watching them, I'm so glad to be back in Seattle." Derek explained

Ellis was quiet, she was looking at the water

Derek smiled at Meredith, the two of them were quiet but it was a comforting silence

Once the ferry arrived they got back in the car and Meredith continued the ride to the land, Derek told her the directions and Ellis was humming along on the music playing in the background

"We're really closed." Derek said really excited, almost like a child in a candy store

"So many twees!" Ellis gasped

"Here it is!" Derek pointed at the trailer, Meredith parking her car but only seeing lots of grass which is what Derek had warned her for

Derek helped her out of the car and into her wheelchair

"Want me to push you?" He asked

"I'll try on my own first." She said and visibly struggled to follow Derek who was showing her around

"My trailer is really tired.." He muttered, only now realizing how accessible everything was for her

"Wanna see!" Ellis giggled

"Go ahead and show her." Meredith smiled gently

"I can carry you? We can sit on the bed and snuggle." Derek suggested

"Are you sure?" Meredith checked

"Of course." He smiled and lifted her in his arms, carrying her inside the trailer

"Thanks." Meredith smiled softly as Derek placed her down on the bed, gasping as she saw the view

"Isn't it amazing?" Derek sat down with her while Ellis crawled over the bed to the window

"Now I understand.." Meredith stared at the view of Seattle

"Mama! Where we live?" Ellis asked, trying to find it

"You can see the hospital, its a little more to the right." Derek pointed for Ellis

Meredith struggled a bit to keep sitting up so lowered herself on her side, still looking around the city she had so many memories of

Flashbacks

Meredith was sitting in the garden, it was quiet, there was sun and no one was home yet.

She wanted to go lay down on the couch but was a bit scared she would get stuck, whenever she was home alone she felt weak and scared

But then a bird flew up to her, it kept sitting close to her and it felt almost relaxing to watch the animal, so much that she lost track of time

"Mama! Mama!" Ellis hurried towards her, the bird remained where it was

"Hi monkey." Meredith smiled as Ellis attempted to climb up her lap, not caring that it made her legs spasm, she was glad her daughter wasn't asking any questions yet, she hoped it would stay like this. She was terrified of seeing adults because they all asked her a thousand questions but Ellis didn't seem to care too much
