Derek had brought Meredith and Ellis home right after. The little girl had fallen asleep so Derek had carried her to bed before he returned to his girlfriend

"Can we sit on the couch?" He asked as he had brought some food and drinks for her

Meredith nodded and transferred, staying quiet and feeling uneasy

"Here, take a sandwich, I made your favorite." Derek kissed the side of her head, pulling her a bit closer

Meredith did so and started eating slowly but not speaking up at all

Derek stayed quiet and rubbed her shoulder softly as she finished her sandwich, grabbing some water and drinking it until she winced

"Are you hurting?" He asked

"The.. landing.. was rough." Meredith said, her voice hoarse

"I'm sorry that happened, Mer. I was really worried about you. I can check you out really quick if you want?" Derek suggested

"I didn't fall.. just.. wheeling through grass is hard.. but this grass was so long, I got stuck and Bailey tried really hard but I couldn't get out- I just- I was stuck.." Meredith rambled, pulling at her fingers in a try to ease herself

"I'm so sorry, Mer." Derek pulled her in his arms, lifting her onto his lap and hugging her tightly as she placed her head on his chest

"I think I'll take the week off.." Meredith said

"I'm sure Teddy will be okay with that, Bailey can take over from you." Derek kissed the top of his girlfriend's head. "Would you be okay with it if I take some time off as well?" Derek asked her

"You don't have to do this, Derek." Meredith muttered

"I wanna do this." He assured her softly

"Only if you're sure." Meredith nodded softly and finished her sandwich, wrapping her arms around Derek and hugging him tightly

"I am." Derek nodded and held her, watching how she slowly drifted off in his arms

Derek had carried her to bed, changed her catheter bag, put on her night braces and had done her whole night routine. It was time that she'd be a bit pampered and spending some hours in bed would do her well

Derek had been awake most of the time, only drifting off during the night

When he woke up the next morning Meredith was still asleep next to him. He chuckled and watched her until he heard Ellis wake up

He decided to go get her and let her have breakfast while Meredith was asleep

"Dewek?" Ellis muttered, hugging her stuffed bunny tightly

"Hello, sweetheart. How did you sleep?" Derek asked her

"Kay." Ellis smiled, her hair completely messed up

"Come here, let's make some breakfast for your mommy." Derek lifted her and took her to the kitchen, letting her take a seat on the counter

"Dewek, my mama luves pancakes." Ellis told him

"I know and so do you, right?" Derek giggled

"I do!" Ellis giggled loudly, starting to sing a song and Derek joined

But they hadn't noticed that Meredith was actually watching them. She had woken up, feeling very sore so she hoped moving around would help with that. She had stopped as she heard the two of them and peaked in

"I see you two are having fun." Meredith smiled znd walked up to the counter so she could hug Ellis

"Mama! Mama!" Ellis gigged

"Good morning, my little monkey. You and Derek are real chefs!" Meredith leaned forward to hug Ellis but her body was sore

"How are you feeling?" Derek rubbed Meredith's back softly, kissing her head

"Overal okay." Meredith smiled softly. "But I'll leave my braces on for the day and take some rest."

"Sounds good." Derek nodded

"Mama! Wanna play on the trampoline!" Ellis smiled

"I'll come jump with you, we'll do a little game and mommy will tell us how we're doing." Derek suggested

"Yes!" Ellis giggled and ate her breakfast

"I got some for you as well and some fresh cut up fruit with some yogurt." He placed down all the food on her spot at the table

"Derek, that's way too much." Meredith smiled

"You need this after yesterday." Derek muttered

"Mama, what happened yestewday?" Ellis asked

"Nothing, monkey." Meredith quickly said and kept eating, not wanting to tell her daughter, not wanting to make her aware they she might have lost both of her parents

"Let's have a relaxed day."
