Meredith was laying down on the couch, Derek was trying to comfort her as this had made her really upset

"Okay Mer, I'm done. I'll bandage them to make sure the wound stays clean." Mark explained to her

Meredith nodded and waited until her legs were bandaged, sighing and groaning as her left one started spasming while Mark was busy

"It's fine, Mer." Mark softly said, trying to calm the spasm down

"No, the spasms are hurting my back-" She groaned in discomfort

"Let's try to lay you down, maybe that will help." Derek said and let her lay down, her head in his lap

"Is Addie taking care of Ellie?" Meredith asked, feeling a bit tired from the meds Mark had given her

"Yes Mer, I'll check on her as soon as I am finished here." Mark said softly, feeling horrible for his friend

Flashback

"Mama! -uice!" The little girl giggled, running in front of Meredith's wheelchair

"Let me grab it, sweetie." Meredith nodded, she was wearing her back brace after her doctors had agreed it'd be best for her

"Mama! Mama! Mama!" Ellis tried to climb onto her mother's lap

"Calm down, sweet girl." Meredith asked, realizing she couldn't get the juice now

"Mer? Ellie?" They suddenly heard Addison's voice

"-uice!" Ellis yelled from Meredith's lap, hitting her fist against Meredith's brace, causing the girl to start crying hysterically

"Come here, princess." Addison lifted her up. Meredith immediately wheeled off to her bedroom, she was the reason her girl started crying

After what felt like hours of panting for air after a panic attack had started she felt Addison's arms wrap around her

Her back hurts like crazy as sobs wrecked through her body

"Hey-" Addison tried to calm her friend down

"I'm useless! I'm a bad mother! I should have been dead instead of Finn, I should have been behind the wheel!" Meredith screamed while crying

"Don't say that, stop." Addison wrapped her arms tightly around her friend, not knowing what to do

Meredith just kept sobbing in Addison's arms

"Ellis is exhausted, she's sleeping now. Maybe you should take a nap as well, your back must be hurting.." Addison softly said, finding it horrible to see Meredith like this

End of flashback

Meredith woke up after a while, her back feeling better again, luckily. She decided to get up and check on the others but she saw her legs and was a bit shocked by what had actually happened

"Hey, you're awake." Mark walked inside

"Hmm.." Meredith nodded sadly

"It's best if you wear shorts for a few days so the wounds can heal." He explained to her

"I hate my legs." Meredith groaned

"I'm sorry, Meredith. And don't let Ellis sit in your lap as long as you're healing." He kissed the top of her head

"I got you something to drink." Derek walked inside the room, taking a seat on the bed next to her

"Thanks.." Meredith sighed, taking the glass of water and looking down

She felt Derek's hand on her back, she softly leaned into it. Mark sneaked out of the room and left them on their own

"Why aren't you running?" Meredith asked

"Why would I run?" Derek frowned

"No one wants all of this mess in their life." She didn't want him to get hurt

"Mer, I could have burned myself as well, those things happen." Derek started to rub her back softly, noticing her tensing up the closer he got to her scar so he avoided it to not make her feel uncomfortable. "Please don't doubt my intentions."

"Mama! No! Need my mama!" They heard Ellis scream

"Ellis-" Meredith was alarmed right away

"I'll go get her." Derek knew the two needed each other

"No! Mama! No!" Ellis kept screaming until Derek carried her inside

"Hey monkey, what's happening?" Meredith frowned, opening her arms for her daughter to crawl into them

Derek carefully placed Ellis down in his lap while sitting next to Meredith

"Mama!" Ellis tried to climb into Meredith's lap

"Your mommy has a booboo, why don't you two lay down and snuggle?" Derek suggested, knowing he wouldn't keep both of them calm

Meredith lowered herself until she was able to cuddle with Ellis and Derek tucked both of them in

"Thank you." Meredith whispered softly, brushing her fingers through Ellis' blonde hair

Derek watched as Ellis fell asleep in her mom's arms and how happy Meredith looked to be cuddling with her daughter, his feelings for Meredith only kept growing

Sorry it's been taking so long, I was so sick and I still am a bit and tomorrow i'm seeing my surgeon again but after 5 weeks my wound still hasnt closed so i guess i'll see..
