Meredith was working in the ER, usually she avoided this place but there was a big accident because of a drunk driver, which brought back some memories but she shook them off and waited for the rig to drive up

"We got the last one, it's the driver." The female woman said. "We don't have a name yet."

"Okay, take him for a head CT first, then we'll have to take him into surgery." Helm said as he had internal bleedings

"Okay everyone, hurry." Derek ordered

While Helm took the patient for scans Meredith and Derek scrubbed in and waited for the patient to arrive in the OR.

"Are you okay?" Derek softly asked her while no one else was around

"Yeah." Meredith assured him and wheeled inside

"He has a brain bleed, his spleen needs to be removed and we'll have to check for any damage to his liver and kidneys." Helm wheeled him inside, nurses quickly prepared him on the table

"It's a beautiful day to save lives." Derek said softly, looking into Meredith's eyes as they started

After about an hour in surgery Mark stepped inside with Richard and Bailey

"Dr Grey?" Richard called out for her

"What's wrong, Richard?" She frowned

"Bailey will take over from you, can you please come with us?" Richard asked

"Why?! All is going fine, he has a chance to pull through." Meredith argued

"Mer, we know the name of the.. patient.. just let Bailey take over, please." Mark begged her

"Who's it?" She demanded

"Mer-" Mark tried to stop her

"Who?!" She repeated herself, meanwhile Derek's worries were growing bigger

"It's the guy that killed Finn." Mark honestly said

Meredith quickly put her instruments down, not bothering to go back to seating before she wheeled out to the scrub room

Bailey took over from her as she obsessively started washing her hands as she scrubbed out

"Leave us alone, please." Mark asked Richard and was now left alone with Meredith. He hugged her as soon as she was finished, she started sobbing and broke down completely

Derek felt horrible, he wanted to run out of surgery and help her

In the room next to him Meredith was crying in Mark's arms, having a full mental breakdown after hearing the news

"Come on, let's go to my office." Mark guided her out, quickly helping her into her own wheelchair and pushing her to his office

"He did it again.. He caused another accident." Meredith muttered

"That guy should be stopped." Mark rubbed her back, sitting on the couch

"Mark- He did it again.. He did it again!" Meredith yelled loudly

"I know, Mer.. Why don't we go home, you shouldn't be here right now." Mark said softly

"I can't go home, I don't know what to do, Mark. I don't want to think, I just- I want Finn here, I wanna walk! That guy never should have ruined our lives! Never! I hate him!"

Mark didn't know what to say and instead just hugged her as tight as he could, wanting to protect her

"Let's go home, okay? Let's just go home." Mark kissed her head

Meredith nodded but wasn't functioning well. She was absolutely terrified so Mark helped her, but as soon as they were outside she started throwing up, the emotions were getting to her

Mark helped her clean up and drove her home, carrying her out of the car and pushing her inside

"Mer, Mark?" Addison frowned as she saw the two of them arriving. "Ellie's asleep."

"Thank you. I'm going to bed." Meredith's voice cracked and she wheeled off, not daring to look at her friend

"Mer, wait-" Mark said but it was of no use, she had disappeared

"What's wrong?" Addison frowned

"The guy that caused her accidents was brought in.. He once again caused an accident while being drunk." Mark shook his head

"I thought he lost his license?" Addison gasped

"He did.. but that bastard.. He was driving around again without insurance and without a license this time. He drank, Addie! He killed one of our friends and paralyzed Mer years ago and now he's doing the same thing! And he'll probably survive this while others- God! I hate him!" Mark yelled

"I'll go check on her.. I don't think she should be alone right now." Addison rubbed her hand over her husband's chest, attempting to calm him down

After a few minutes Addison walked up to Meredith's room, knocking softly

"Mer, can I please come in?"

But Addison only heard Meredith's cries so she entered. She found Meredith on her side, laying on Finn's side of the bed, hugging his pillow extremely tight

"I'm so sorry." Addison climbed in next to her, holding her

"I miss Finn.. I miss walking.." Meredith whimpered

"I know.." Addison didn't know what to say, nothing in this world could make this better. Meredith and Derek have gotten extremely close, they really do love each other but Meredith would always love Finn.. and the memories she had with him..

Derek rushed home after the surgery, he needed to see her

No idea if he could call her his girlfriend, this wasn't the time to get that more cleared out.

"Mark! Where is she?" Derek asked concerned as she hadn't replied to any of his texts

"She's in bed.. Mark sighed as he was sitting at the table. "Did he.. make it?"

"He did.." Derek sighed

"Great.. He can make more victims." Mark shook his head

"I'll go see her." Derek walked up to her bedroom

"Hey." Addison whispered. "Quiet, she's finally asleep, she's cried herself to sleep so don't wake her, please."

The redhead got up and let Derek take over, he laid next to her and held her in his arms as she unconsciously scooted deeper into his arms

Derek promised to protect her, he wasn't gonna let anyone ever hurt her like that again
