Flashback
"Mer.. We need to start planning Finn's funeral.." Addison carefully started
"Where's Ellis?" Meredith asked, unable to get comfortable
"She's with Carolyn and Christopher." Addison said
"I wanna see her." Meredith begged
"I'll call them." Addison nodded and left the room. After the call she returned inside and started planning with Meredith but the blonde couldn't believe this was really happening
"I can't-" Meredith struggled to breathe properly, it was getting to her that she didn't feel a thing below her chest and it was scaring her a lot
"Yes you can, take deep breaths. Ellis will be here in a bit, you'll be able to hug her." Addison tried to help Meredith
"I want this to be beautiful, Addie. Finn needs a good funeral." Meredith whispered
"We'll make sure of it." Addison nodded and they continued, regardless of how hard it was. They quit after a while as Meredith had to lay down because her back was bothering her
"Knock, knock." Carolyn sadly smiled as she carried Ellis inside, the girl was half asleep
"Hey Mer, we got Ellis with you." Christopher said, it was their first time seeing her since the injury. It scared both of them, Meredith was badly injured, not to mention her spine injury..
"Ellie-" Meredith said, her voice gave away how desperate she felt, she needed her daughter as Ellis was the only reason she wanted to keep going right now
"Can we place her down?" Carolyn asked Addison, even if she was a nurse she had no idea
"Yes!" Meredith said quickly, attempting to sit up
"No, no. Stay down." Addison said sternly and raised the bed again. Christopher helped to make sure Meredith wouldn't make any bad moves
"I think you can lay her down in Mer's arms." Christopher nodded
Carolyn placed a sleeping Ellie down in Meredith's arms, careful that the brace wouldn't hurt the small blonde girl
"Oh Ellie-" Meredith cried
Neither of them wanted to leave, knowing they couldn't let them alone. Addison placed a soft kiss on Meredith's head and gave her some time with her daughter
"Mama?" Ellis suddenly muttered, grasping tight onto her mom's jogging pants
"Mama's here, princess. I love you so, so much." Meredith whispered, struggling a bit to compose herself but as always her daughter made her to the impossible
"We love you." Christopher placed his hand on Meredith's shoulder
End of flashback
"Mer?" Addison walked inside the living room. Meredith was working on her computer at the table
"Yeah?" Meredith looked up
"Would you like some lunch? I really wanna order sushi." The redhead chuckled
"I'd like some." Meredith nodded with a smile. "But I wanna make us grilled cheese, if you'd want."
"Hmm.." Addison wasn't sure what she wanted
"Derek's gonna be home soon as well, call him and let him decide." Meredith suggested, reading her emails
"Good idea!" Addison said and started calling Derek
Meredith felt herself getting tired and decided to end her work for now
"Derek wanted sushi, so I'm gonna order. Same as usual?" Addison asked Meredith
"Yeah please." Meredith nodded and wheeled back from the table and up to the couch, climbing into it
"Damn, you look exhausted, are you okay?" Addison asked
"Yeah, Ellis just kept me up and I couldn't fall asleep either." Meredith muttered, laying her head down for a minute
"Here-" Addison covered her with a blanket
"Thanks.." Meredith muttered and drifted off
In the meantime Derek had arrived and chuckled at how loud Meredith was snoring
"She's loud." He mentioned
"We know." Addison laughed. "I promise you'll get used, we even worry when she's not snoring."
"Do you worry a lot about her?" Derek asked, tucking in her legs as the blanket had slipped
"We worry way more than we did a few years ago." Addison sighed. "But we know she's strong and amazing."
"Is there anything I can do?" Derek asked her
"Do you like her?" Addison suddenly asked
"I- How?" Derek stuttered
"I don't wanna repeat.." Addison said sternly
"She's nice and I enjoy spending time with her but I know she went through traumatic things, I don't know if she'd ever even wanna think about it." Derek honestly replied
"Just.. If you hurt her, then Mark and I will kill you." Addison made it clear
"I wanna know more about her but I'm so scared to ask." Derek admitted
"She isn't very open, Derek. She went through a lot, and not only that accident." Addison sadly smiled
"What?" Meredith woke up by the doorbell ringing
"Hey, morning." Derek joked and went to open the door
"Sushi's here." Addison laughed and went to sit at the table after putting it ready
"Coming." Meredith smiled and got in her wheelchair.
Derek walked back inside and put all the food on the table for them
"It looks amazing." Addison started digging in
"Sad they don't combine pizza and sushi!" Meredith chuckled
"I'm quite glad about that." Derek laughed as the three of them had lunch, eating their food while chatting away
