Flashback

"Can I order the chair for you?" Mark asked Meredith as they were looking for her new wheelchair

"I guess it will do until I get a custom chair." Meredith sighed as she just needed one as soon as possible to start rehab

"It'll be here in a few days." Mark nodded and paid for the wheelchair. He knew Meredith had given him her bank account but he refused. He wanted to pay for this chair, she was already facing enough bills since the drunk driver had no insurance

"What about we'd go outside for a bit? A small walk to clear our heads?" Addison suddenly suggested as she put her phone down

"Addie.." Meredith looked in her lap

"I know what you'll say, and I understand. But please give it a chance.." Addison said softly, she had a surprise for her friend

"Can I lift you in the wheelchair?" Mark asked her

"Don't use the hoist, please." Meredith found it so embarrassing

"I won't." Mark promised her and carefully scooped her up, placing her in the wheelchair. At least this one fitted her better, Mark had been on a mission to find the hospital's best wheelchair for her needs

"I haven't been outside except.." Meredith trailed off, she hadn't been outside of the hospital since Finn's funeral

"We know, but some fresh air will do you well." Addison covered Meredith with a blanket and put on a scarf, she had really been struggling with her body temperature

Mark pushed her outside while Addison held her hand. Meredith was staring ahead of her, not wanting to notice anything of all the pitiful stares

"Mama! Mama!" Suddenly she heard Ellis' voice and thought she was going crazy

But once she lifted her head up she indeed saw Ellis with Carolyn and Christopher, outside on a bench

"Ellie!" Meredith smiled widely, leaning a bit forward in her wheelchair

"Stay sitting, we'll help you." Addison smiled

"Thank you." Meredith teared up as Christopher placed Ellis in her lap

"Mama luf!" Ellis giggled and gave her mom a kiss

End of flashback

"Mark, her body has no idea what to do, she can't regulate her own temperature." Addison panicked

"I know, Addie." Mark pulled his wife in for a strong hug, suddenly the redhead started sobbing

"Hey, what's wrong?" Mark stroke her cheek

"I'm sorry, I just-" Addison couldn't stop crying. "I hate to see her like this, I'm scared. I'm scared of losing her."

"She's stable, Addie. She's gonna be just fine, in a few days she'll be back home." Mark and his wife took a seat on the couch, he held her close as they kept an eye on Meredith

After a little while they saw Meredith waking up, her hand moving to her chest

"I'll help." Addison jumped up and helped her friend cough. "How are you feeling?"

"Fine. I gotta go check on Ellis." She stubbornly said

"She's in good hands. You need to nebulize first and if your fever is okay we might try to let Ellis come see you." Mark told her softly, stroking her hair

"Is she asleep?" Meredith asked

"Derek sent me a picture of her earlier." Addison said and showed Meredith

"She's looking a bit pale, has she been eating well?" Meredith asked, already out of breath

"Yes, she convinced Derek she needed pizza, and she wanted to bring you some as well and when Derek said it'd be cold by the time it'd get here but then she explained to him how you like cold pizza as your breakfast." Addison and Mark laughed

"And did she bring some?" Meredith smirked, although she honestly wouldn't like some right now

"No, I ate it." Mark confessed

"Rude.. But okay." Meredith tried to cough, her lungs feeling heavy

"I was starving." Mark chuckled and let her cough

"Nebulizer." Addison said as she had gotten it ready

Mark sat down next to Meredith and helped her sit up. He let her lean against his chest and strapped the mask around her head

"Can sit up my myself-" She insisted

"You're exhausted, just lean back." Mark said softly

Meredith eventually gave in and leaned into her friend's chest, almost imagining she was in Finn's arms

...

"I wanna see my mama." Ellis whimpered in Derek's arms

"Let me try something." Derek chuckled and kept walking with Ellis. He strapped her into some special clothes and gave her a mask, because they were in the ICU..

"Derek?" Meredith suddenly heard Addison say

"Ellie!" Meredith's eyes lit up as she saw her daughter, carried by Derek, dressed in a way too large gown and a mask strapped over her face

Mark quickly got outside Meredith's room towards Derek

"What did you do?" He frowned

"She wanted to see her mom and I'm quite sure Meredith missed her as well. I explained we couldn't go in, and you're agreeing, right Ellie?" Derek asked the little girl

"Yes! Only waving and blowing kisses at mommy!" Ellis giggled in his arms, her eyes focussed on her mom

Meredith kept waving and blowing kisses back from inside, even if she was getting exhausted

"Okay Ellie, I think one final big, big kiss for mommy now." Derek said

"Bye mommy! Luf!" Ellis said as she blew a big air kiss

"I'll come see you later monkey." Mark gave the girl a quick hug and went back inside
