ARJUN'S POV:
"I want to make an announcement". Dado-sa suddenly said, silencing the hall.
I turned to look at him, frowning. What now? He hadn't discussed anything with me regarding an announcement. Argh.
"Baba-sa, kya announcement hai?" Dad asked, breaking the tension.
("What is the announcement, Baba-sa?")
"Aane wale doh mahine baad Arjun ki taj poshi hai. Maine kal Pandit ji se baat ki aur unhone bataya ki yeh muhurat bahut shubh hai". Dado-sa declared, his voice commanding.
("The coronation ceremony for Arjun will take place in two months. I spoke to Pandit ji yesterday, and he found this muhurat very auspicious.")
"Jaise aap chahein, Baba-sa". Dad replied with a smile, glancing at me. I nodded back, acknowledging their decision.
"Baba, kya yeh kaafi jaldi nahi hai? Aur aapne Amar ke baare mein bhi nahi socha? Woh bhi toh aapka pota hai aur Arjun ke jitna hi kabil hai". Niharika Chachi interjected with a smirk, her tone laced with passive aggression. She knew Dado-sa wouldn't reprimand her in public.
("Baba, isn't this decision a bit rushed? And have you even considered Amar? He's also your grandson and just as capable as Arjun.")
"Chhoti bahu, hum sab jaante hain ki ghar ke bade bete ko hi hamesha raja hone ka audha milta hai. Lagta hai, aap bhool gayi hain". Dado-sa countered sharply, making me smirk.
("Younger daughter-in-law, we all know that the eldest son of the house is always bestowed with the title of king. It seems you've forgotten.")
Dado-sa then turned to Avni, who had been quietly standing nearby. "Avni, beta, you and your family are also invited to the coronation. I'll send a formal invitation later, but I wanted to invite you personally."
"Ji, Dada ji." she replied politely, nodding her head.
"Okay, now let's have dinner". Dad said, trying to lighten the mood.
------------------------------------------------
Dinner passed with the usual formalities. Afterward, I mingled with some businessmen and important guests. As I walked back toward the hall, I noticed a commotion. The manager was whispering harshly at someone, her face twisted in frustration. Intrigued, I excused myself and approached.
When I got closer, I saw the manager pleading. "I'm sorry, ma'am. Please don't tell Sir about this. They'll fire me, and my studies depend on this job. Please forgive me—I'll fix everything."
Her desperation was evident. Standing opposite her was Avni, her eyes wide in shock.
"Leave." I said curtly.
Both of them turned toward me in surprise.
"Leave, manager." I repeated firmly. She nodded quickly and scurried away, casting a side-eye at Avni.
"What did she say to you?" I asked Avni, but she just shook her head.
"Do you know her?" I pressed further.
