THIRD PERSON POV –
"Here, drink from mine," he said softly, holding the mug near her lips.
She took a sip, and he drank from the same mug. He chatted with Vanya while sipping his coffee, occasionally offering her another sip. After some time, he kissed her forehead and left for the office.
"You bitch! You've caught a big fish," Vanya hissed venomously.
"What makes you think he's whipped for you? No, darling, you're totally wrong. He'll divorce you soon," she added, then stormed off, leaving Avni to spiral into doubt once again.
The wounds Arjun and Avni had tried to heal reopened—this time, brutally. She sat down, attempting to distract herself by reviewing the designs spread across the table. She hadn't eaten since breakfast and worked until she was completely drained. Resting her head against the back of the couch, she closed her eyes, unaware of when sleep finally claimed her.
Meanwhile, Arjun was immersed in work at his office. After attending several meetings, he met Shekhar in the afternoon. Together, they headed to meet someone Arjun despised. They arrived at a deserted area where three cars were parked. Shekhar stopped the car, and both men stepped out. Ahead stood a man flanked by guards.
"Why did you call me here?" Arjun asked coldly.
"I'm here to warn you," the man replied with a smirk.
"What kind of warning?" Arjun asked, growing impatient.
"I'll take her away from you. She's mine—only mine," the man declared confidently.
Arjun laughed in his face. The man stepped forward, attempting to touch Arjun, but Shekhar shoved him back.
"Stay in your limits, Amar," Shekhar snapped. Yes, the man was none other than Amar.
"How dare you touch me, Shekhar?" Amar growled, regaining his footing.
"Amar, stay in your fucking limits," Arjun said calmly.
"I'll take her back soon, Arjun bhai-saab. She's mine, and I'll cherish her with my love," Amar said with conviction.
Arjun smirked. "She doesn't need your love. Keep that cherishing crap in your pocket—because I've already cherished her in ways that left her unable to walk for three days. So drop that fantasy."
Amar looked stunned.
"You think you can fool me with that lie? No, brother, you're wrong," Amar said, trying to stay composed.
"I'll take her away soon," he repeated and walked off. Arjun stood there, lost in thought.
"Let's go, Arjun. It's not safe here," Shekhar said, and they both got into the car.
The drive back to the city was silent. Both men were thinking of ways to protect Avni from Amar, unaware that she wasn't even safe in her own home.
"Take me to the boxing club," Arjun said, closing his eyes and leaning back.
"Okay, boss," Shekhar replied, trying to lighten the mood. Arjun chuckled faintly.
They reached the boxing club, changed clothes, and entered separate rings. After a brief warm-up, they began sparring with professionals, channeling their anger into punches and kicks. An hour later, they cleaned up and returned to the office. Arjun met with a new client and discussed a project, immersing himself in work to forget everything else.
At 10 p.m., a knock sounded on his cabin door. He called out, "Come in."
"Sir, there's a call from the mansion," Shekhar's assistant said.
"Where's Shekhar?"
"He's on a mission," the assistant replied, handing him the phone.
"Good evening, sir," came the butler's voice. Arjun hummed in response.
"Sir, actually... ma'am..." the butler stammered, and Arjun's ears perked up.
"Ma'am what, Raju?" he asked sharply.
"Sir, ma'am locked herself in her room after lunch and hasn't come out. We knocked, but there's no response."
"Then why didn't you call me earlier?" Arjun snapped.
"I tried, sir, but your phone was unreachable and then switched off," Raju replied nervously.
Arjun sighed, grabbed his phone and car keys, threw on his coat, and left the office.
His assistant rushed over, and Arjun instructed him to wrap things up and organize the files. He drove at high speed, reaching the mansion in half an hour. Tossing his car keys to a guard, he rushed inside.
The hall was chaotic. He ran to his room, where five workers and the butler stood anxiously. Pulling out a key from his coat pocket, he unlocked the door. All six bowed as he entered.
Inside, he found her lying on the floor.
He rushed to her, scooped her into his arms, and laid her gently on their bed. Brushing her hair from her face, he saw tear stains on her cheeks. He tapped her face gently while the butler called the doctor.
The doctor arrived quickly, visibly worried.
"What happened to her?" Arjun asked in a calm yet dangerous tone.
"She fainted due to stress and..." the doctor hesitated.
"And what?" Arjun pressed, his glare sharp.
"The stress is affecting her brain. I recommend a hospital visit—we need to run some tests," the doctor said.
"What do you suspect?" Arjun asked.
The doctor hesitated, then replied, "Migraine... and possibly Alzheimer's disease."
1. Do you think Arjun's protectiveness is helping Avni heal—or is it adding more pressure?
2. What are your thoughts on Amar's obsession? Do you see him as a threat or a delusional distraction?
3. That final diagnosis—migraine or Alzheimer's—what do you think is really going on with Avni?
4. If you were in Arjun's place, how would you handle Amar's warning?
5. Which moment in this chapter hit you the hardest—and why?
